i was hoping someone on here could help me out. i bought a new laptop. a lenovo x60 thinkpad tablet. I can not get vag com to run on a car. it shows that the com is working when i run the test on the com3 but as soon as i check something it runs through the attempts and cant connect. i tried switching the coms but there is no option under my device manager. is there anything im overlooking? do i need a port immulator?

You're running a serial to USB converter?

What version of vag-com are you using? If the cable is a true usb vag cable, you should select usb under the setup menu- not a com port.

and if by chance it is not a true cable? i know this forum dosnt like the discussion of this sort of thing but i need to get it to work and i cant drop that type of money at the moment. i am stretched thin. I have tried all the versions. none seem to work.
