    Mounted a fire extinguisher today

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I bought the small "Kiddie" fire extinguisher at home cheapo to put in my trunk. I've had it in my car for a while now and it has just been sitting in that basket indentation on the right side of the trunk freely moving around .

So I realized it came with a wall mount so I drilled two small holes right below the 12v hookup and mounted it with some screws. Definitely cleans things up and its held on pretty snug.

I know its small and will barely do anything in case of a large fire, but it has potential to save my car if there is ever a small electrical fire or engine bay fire. I just like having it in there for peace of mind.

(Sorry pics suck it was getting dark out)

Anyone else have one mounted in their car? what do you think ?

Atleast it's not mounted on the pass A-pillar . So props to you on that. Also, I see you got the B6 esentials (oil, spare coilpack).

No, that small A-pillar mounted chrome extingusher, which reads empty is a ricer thing. This is more purposeful and inside his trunk, not mounted in plain view to imply track use. Good idea, I had some wires fry under my dash before while I was driving, wasn't a good experience.

in my b5 i had it mounted under the rear passenger seat. like under the lip of the cushion. you couldnt tell it was there when you were sitting there. but it was mad easy to get to.

I was SUPER worried I was gonna see it mounted to your A-pillar.

    I am pleasantly relieved.

Actually, I should get one of those myself. With all the wires and relays and stuff all over my car from the air ride my car is an electrical fire waiting to happen...

trust me it's not ricer when you have a small electrical fire and you watch your car slowly burn to the ground when you could've prevented it with a small fire extinguisher .

A4Tune you do make a good point. But if it was chrome and on the pillar i would have to say its definitely ricerish.

I'm with Capt. I was scared when I saw this post. Good job on putting it in the trunk where it belongs. Not a bad idea to have one around, especially for me since I live in the desert. Good job

Thumbs up Being safe and prepared ftw!

I've had experience with an electrical fire in a previous ride and have seen cars burn to the ground.

You never know when you'll need to use the extinguisher, besides yourself, you may save a friend's ride, or even someone's life until fire personnel arrives.

    Peace!

Guess what, lots of Western nations require car owners to have a fire extinguisher, reflective vest, flares, medkit and so on. It may sound stupid, but imagine something happens and all of these little things can come into play.

Like the thought - I would've lost the bet and sworn that it was going to be on the A-pillar. I dunno man, I'd see an electrical fire as an excuse to go shopping for another ride. I'd break out the mashmallows and let 'er roast. Massive accidents that are deemed repairable and electrical fires that are fixable would make me sell the car right after it was repaired.

I like my cars like my wimmen...I'm the only dick riding in it and I don't like anyone else even fiddling with it....

I think he was referring to this comment.. why would I put it under the seat if its already mounted in the trunk?? i don't even see how it would work under the seat unless you somehow took that drawer out cause it def won't fit in there.

Well yeah with a stock car who cares? but when you spend thousands of dollars in mods that will not be reimbursed by insurance its nice to have it there just in case.

I put mine in the trunk but mounted it on the metal of the roof in the trunk. As far as it being ricer, yes when you see certain cars having them it is, but in many cases it is a emergency precaution.

Call me crazy, but my insurance company gets a copy of all of my receipts for all work done on my bikes and my cars. Never had a problem putting in a claim since I was 16 and 17 years later if "life" happens I get every stinkin' penny back for all mods. Only downfall is that my policy requires pictures to be taken every year and an assessment by an independant adjustor before the mod is included on the policy. The mods don't depreciate, only the car - talk to your broker especially if you are a modaholic.

Haven't done anything beyond the APR 1 on my Audi so far but my insurance co. already knowns about it.
