big brakes are in the future

You know how people swap E500 brakes onto 89' 190E's and what not? well I've read that its possible to throw on porsche 996 brakes onto A6's. The reason I ask is because there is a wrecked 03 996 Turbo at a junkyard close by and the guy wants 500$ for the brakes (calipers and rotors), and there basically in perfect condition. So any info would be helpful here, If anything im going to go get them then sell em on ebay for a profit.

    thanks!

heres a dude who did it to an S4

are you sure those are 996 brakes? I thought the ones that worked were from 993's.

the ones pictured are actually from a cayenne which are 6 piston. The 4 piston (I think) are from the 993's.

Re: big brakes are in the future

idk if you'll be able to use the 996's. I think it'll require a lot of machining. You can ask around in the s4 forum, you might get more help, but I don't think it's been done before.

    x2 on BIRA.ORG

You need to pay to be a member with them, but you can then buy their customized brackets for System 6

    BIRA.ORG System 6

Uses the Porsche 996 Turbo 4-piston monobloc caliper over the Porsche 993tt/GT-3 322x32mm rotor ring. Requires custom (BIRA-supplied) rotor hat. We have solutions to fit the '92-97 S4/S6; 1996-2000 A4; 2000-2002 S4 and other HP-2 equipped cars; 1997-1999 A8; A6, 1C, 2C(1), 5K, UrQ, V8(1), VW Passat. Virtually identical to the latest Movit kits at 2/3 the price.

We also offer "upgrade" brackets for Movit-design owners to replace your old 993tt-based brakes with the new Porsche 996tt monobloc caliper using your existing rotor/hat combination. Install the new Turbo calipers for the price of rebuilding your 993tt older calipers.
