how to take rolling shots with rebel

like the title says.. ive experimented very briefly trying to get the rolling shots but the shutter speed always seems to fast.. but it needs to be fast to get the right exposer....?

so i assume you get the car rolling at 55 mph then focus the above the wheels..

anyone have any recommendations as far as modes shutter speeds aperture size to be in with my cannon rebel xt with a standard EFS 18-55mm lens.

    thanks chris

When shooting rolling shots with my Rebel XTi, I usually go with a 1/40 or 1/30 shutter speed and focus right above the wheels like you said.

tighter aperture and longer exposure. slower than 1/30 and you are likely to be 'fuzzy' because of vibration.
try slower film speed too. no real cut and dry answer as it all depends on lighting.

there is absolutely no reason to go so fast, you can get great shot's at 10-15 mph, you can experiment by metering to car with the auto setting and then slowing down the shutter in Shutter priority by 2-3 stops, you may want use a mono pod or tripod to steady the camera. There will be some trial and error involved.

In the pic above I think part of the problems is the sun causing a reflection and it takes away for the pic.

    My opinion.

used the door card. went back and forth between shutter speeds.. i didnt know how to select focus points on the camera so that might help next time.
resault in TV mode and AF on...

i dont know how to mess with the aperture when in TV mode
