Dang that looks so freakin mean! I really don't understand why they didn't separate the 2 exhaust pipes to each side from the factory on our cars, it looks so much better.

everyone has always argued that you would run into issues with the fuel cell and the spare tire compartment...

i dont know how the bottom rear of the year is different from the us spec...but apparently it is in fact possible.

i disagree. i like it the way it is. most likely that guy cut the spare tire section and doesnt run a spare. not worth it at all imo.

yeah, when I read the thread title I was like "shame on THAT fool". Couldnt imagine how it could possibly look good on our cars. But it looks surprisingly good on the euro rear bumper. And I dont think anyone can disagree with the way its sounds. Am I right?

    Re: Quad exhaust?

That'll be my car then! I'm in the UK and the rear bumper is the pre-facelift one fitted to models before late 1999, so not one you'd have fitted to any of your models over in the states.

It was all a bit of a tight squeeze, but everything remains standard, fuel tank, spare wheel section etc.

Did sound good, but without any back boxes it is a bit droney and it's started to develope a nasty rasp, maybe cos the system is so solid to stop it hitting under the car and the bumper, so some mods are to follow.

I can understand it's not to everyones taste, but doesn't always pay to follow the norm! Worth a try and turned out looking good. There is another vid on youtube of the car pulling away.

    Re: Quad exhaust?

It looks like a really clean job on the quad mod but it seems like its all show. It will defnitely make it heavier and add unwanted restriction to the exh system.

    Re: Quad exhaust?

It was all show, and restrictive, you're right! The numptys that made it only used 2.5" for the centre section, which I only just discovered after measuring it. Not happy, also way too loud, so it's gone. Been chopped up for bits that went on my mates S3 and father-in-laws 2.8 A4.

Eh well, we live and learn, proved it could be done though, just not so well by the people that did mine!

I freakin love it and wish it came stock on our cars. Good job for trying stapo69 and well done I must say. I want to have some show as long as it does not come with the price of not having a spare tire. How the hell did you pull that off? Are there a lot of differences under the car where the exhaust section is between the euro s4 and the US s4? Please give some details on how did all this. You can pm me if you'd like.

    Re: Quad exhaust?

Do you have any pictures of underneath the car with the exhaust? I'm really interested to see how it was run.

Yes, it would add weight to the car, I'm guessing around 20-25lbs. But our cars are front heavy anyway, so an extra 20lbs in the rear couldn't hurt in my book. Unless of course you're drag oriented, then I could understand the worry for that weight. I feel like if I had a GT or RS6 setup, I wouldn't really care about an extra 20 lbs, :) .

    Re: Quad exhaust?

I wouldn't really care if it added 50 lbs. Hell I'm gonna have a sound system in my car so more weight won't bother me. And it's not like I'm gonna lose a lot of hp. There may be a chance of gaining some by running a dual 3" if it fits hopefully or even a dual 2.5" even though you can get the Techtonics Tuning catback. But in my case I get to have that nice look of a dual exhaust.

And YZracer is right. If I get a GT setup I'm not really gonna care about the weight. I definitely want to see pictures of underneath this car.

    Re: Quad exhaust?

Not a picture of my car, but the pic I used as a guide when having mine made.

Fitting was tight, heat shield made around fuel tank, and obviously from the downpipes you can run a 3" or bigger, like the standard, but no reason why a duel set up could be made all the way through, like the AWE twin1, just needs to run a different path from the mid box to the rear of the bumper.

As for weight is running one pipe to the other side of the car and out really gonna add that much weight to it? I can't see it myself, as there is just not enough room to run 2 back boxes, so this system is good, if you don't mind it loud, just need to fit as big a middle box as you want to tone it down a little.

    Re: Quad exhaust?

Thanks for a picture. I know our US cars have an evap system. I don't notice one on this car. So that's probably another dilemma for us to try to run the pipes by all those evap lines and stuff. Also about running mufflers in the back I'm pretty sure we can find some small ones like Devious27t's setup. I believe those are mufflers in the back right?

    Re: Quad exhaust?

They do look like small mufflers on the fast intentions, couldn't find anything like that over here. As for an evap system i've not even heard of it! So I guess mine doesn't have it!
