    CPO Question

I have a general question about a CPO car. How long is the usual warranty, 6 years or 100k?

Now does the CPO warranty follow the car or is it attached to the buyer? I would think that no matter who owns it the car is CPO'd till the time of the warranty is up, correct?

What does the CPO cover? Maintenance is not included right?

Reason i ask is because im looking to buy a used s4 from a pravite seller who claims that the car is CPO'd. It always shows a CPO on the carfax, but he stated they cannot transfer the warranty over to me if i purchase the car? Does this sound right ?

    Thanks guys!

    Re: CPO Question

I know with my car, I bought it from the dealer and my CPO is for 50,000 miles. I bought it with 50k on the clock, so maybe 100k is their cutoff?

CPO basically is a warrenty in case stuff breaks, if you want maintenance that's a whole different product.

In terms of the car your looking at being CPO'ed, the seller would have to transfer the CPO to you and pay a $40 processing fee. I don't know the entire policy offhand, but if you give your local dealership a call they could probably give you the specifics.

Long story short, CPO can be transferred if certain criteria is met and the seller transfers it for you. Good luck!

    Re: CPO Question

As far as I know the CPO's are no longer tranferable... that being said the 6yr/100,000mile warrenty starts from the "in service date" not from when you buy the car.... also the maintenance is not included in the CPO, I had to pay extra for that.

    Re: CPO Question

Warranties should be 100% transferable, for the year s4's your looking for at least. CPO I do not believe is. It on an owner to owner basis.

Honestly, CPO is kind of a joke, if you get the extended warranty then who cares if its CPO already or not because to extend the warranty you'll need to have it done again.

Whatever you get make sure the clutch is covered. I think you'll be looking for one soon after.

wait, would the clutch ever be covered under any warranty (factory original 4 years or extended)? i assume it's a wear and tear item.
