i saw that there is some sort of false advertising suit against them but then i also saw that they sell it at the dealer. does anyone have experience with it or know whether its legit or works?

It is just mineral oil. The dealer sells it because it has a good markup and people will buy it. Just because someone sells it doesn't mean it is any good (cigarettes, Milwaukee's best) etc. I would stay away from it. Plenty of cars go 100s of thousands of miles without it, I am sure yours will too.
