    H-Sport Sway Install Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've had my rear H-Sport on my car for the last year or so. Unfortunately, in transitioning my sways from my B6 to my B7, I lost the front brackets. As such, the shop never installed the front sway, as they didn't have the brackets to do so at the time.

I'm in touch with H-Sport and should have brackets in my possession sometime over the next week. Made an appt. with my local shop to get the front sway (plus my new JHM SS) put on.

Here's the question: Does 1 H 30 min sound right for a front only sway install? I'm being told that the entire suspension needs to be dropped and unloaded in order to get the bolts in properly? Not entirely sure what that means, but I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on the hours quoted and if what they are saying is in fact the case.

    thanks in advance.

    Re: H-Sport Sway Install Question

It would probably take me 1hour 30min to install my front sway. I'm not sure if you have to drop the entire suspension but it does include replacing the endlinks with Hotchkis ones- which does mean you have to disconnect the lower control arms. You may also have to disconnect the exhaust in order to get enough room to twist and muscle it in. Generally installing the front sway bar involves a lot more work than the rear.

The front sway bar installation doesn't require dropping anything. It's a 30minute installation tops. There really isn't an easier installation.

    ^ x2

I had a bunch of questions before I installed my sways also. The front should take you about 30 mins. Just drive the front up on ramps and go from there. very simple

What's the best way to handle this? Simply tell my shop that I'm only willing to pay for 1 hr of labor... otherwise I'll pass?! Maybe a letter from Hotchkiss saying how long it should take? I recall when I had my sways put on my B6 (from a different shop) it was btwn 60-90 mins for BOTH sways.

Hate this kind of stuff... always an issue when dealing with shops. Constantly disagreements over hours to install.

Oh, and another funny story, AWE wanted to charge me 1 HR 30 MIN for SS install?! Wow.

Take it elsewhere, or DIY! It really isn't difficult at all, and you only need a 13mm socket/extension/ratchet, and a 16mm wrench.

I just looked under my car again today, you're right it does seem pretty easy. Much more easier than changing the front stabilizers on my previous (Japanese) cars. I'll probably undertake this in a few weeks as I'm still trying to learn how my car with the new coils responds to my steering input.
