i need help with 2006 a4!!

i am going to buy a 2006 a4 2.0T quattro but recently i am having second thoughts because i just came across some reviews on it that said it was horrible...i dont know what to do because i love audi and want it extremely bad. also, i have been told numerous times that audi has extremely good handling and i need/want that because i take turns extremely fast. basically, should i get the a4 or go with something else? also, i want to chip it, any suggestions?

Where did you get those reviews? They haven't really changed anything since 06 that I know of, just revised PCV and DV and the fact that the newer ones come with the S-line body. The handling is ok with the sport suspension, not sure about the normal 4x4 suspension. As for chips, Doritos are good so is REVO. Hope this helps.

i got the bad reviews from car and driver. i didnt really believe them though. haha ok thanks. i want it to be fast, but i am switching my subwoofers from my suv to the a4 so its gonna weigh it down a lot. what can i do to improve handling?

where are these reviews? when i bought mine, the A4 only had great ones. if you're referring to ttac.com, they tend to have a bias towards economical (and non-domestic) cars that provide a good value. unless it's a ferrari, they seldom give out good scores for luxury cars.

go for it.. the industry consensus is that the A4 is a very, very good car. the fact that it still remains competitive 3-4 years into its model run says something.

I love my 2005. Yes there were a couple minor issues, but my bumper to bumper warranty took care of everything for free. I'm enjoying every second of owning my car and never look back.

All of my friends are jealous of it because it's a 4 door with decent space, tons of luxury, and it's damn quick with a few normal modifications.

I have stock exhaust with just a test pipe, and mine is loud when I floor it. It's damn quiet inside the car all the time and quiet when driving normally...

I went on a spirited drive with some friends over the weekend, and they were telling me how loud and awesome my 2.0t sounds on the highway when I'm driving at WOT high on the powerband, and that it puffs some black smoke when I downshift and take off haha. Eff you environment!

I have never read a bad review of the A4 unless it has the CVT transmission. Consumer Reports has the B7 A4 as a best pick. Audi has been getting nothing but favorable press for the last 2 years or so due to all of the new models. Of all of the german car brands they seem to have one of the brightest futures. Best of luck with your decision though.

thats not the review i read...i agree with all of you though. i read one that gave it 6 out of 10 handling which i think is low for an audi and is lower than all the other reviews ive read and it gave it a 1 out of 10 for braking and gave it like a 5 or 6 for dependability. even though its a different review than the one that was posted, i guess its not THAT bad but i expected better.

I have a 2006 and these are my personal comments on it (I will be comparing it to the Honda S2000 which is a benchmark in handling and is almost in a similar category):

- Reliability: the only problem I've had was the PCV failing, later models may not have necessarily have this issue. Just make sure yours has been replaced with an updated one (CARFAX).
- Performance (handling): I don't know what kind of crack C&D has been smoking but the reason I went with the B7 A4 with quattro was because I loved its handling ability and potential (I went from an Integra Type R with a fully-tuned suspension to this). Even with the OEM sport suspension I had no trouble keeping up with friends in Honda S2000s on track days/weekend cruises up the mountains. The OEM sport suspension does exhibit understeer AT ITS LIMITS but is pretty sensitive to steering input, I even dare to say it responds faster than the Honda S2000 to steering input.
- Performance (braking): I'll agree that the A4 is not the best car for braking (considering I had forged calipers, enlarged/slotted rotors with aggressive pads on my previous car) due to its heavy weight also. I can't out-brake S2000s in general but I can definitely start braking a moment later than they can (thanks to AWD). The braking issue can be easily solved with a few hundred dollars into larger rotors and more aggressive pads.

To be honest, I feel like the handling was better in my WRX, but there is no question in my mind that he A4 can be brought up to be comparable or better. I've had my CPO 06 A4 since October and have been impressed with it so far. If you want a little more power and are willing to give up the German luxury badge, the Legacy GT is a good car to look at. However, having looked around quite a bit myself, I'm really happy with my purchase of the Audi. You're looking around in a really good class of sedan, so its difficult to go too wrong.

I will say this. 20s will make it handle like crap. And the sizing of your wheels will induce even more understeer.

if you get an s-line or the sport suspension, feel the ride quality with 18s and summer tires. its pretty rough already. 19s might be too much for ya but to each their own...
