Cool Tonights photoshoot & a fresh new boost gauge

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just a small update for those who are interested:

Finally got my boost gauge installed and its looking clean. I love the AWE vent gauge. 8psi FTW!!!

Took about 2 hours with a buddy and a couple brewskis. Only two things that I'll be replacing soon that suck: the headlight 3 way wire splice plastic piece and the y connector for the boost hose which is about to break. Overall install was very easy and going through the ECU kept things clean. btw thanks to 7speed for some tips on the install.

Here's a pic of the boost hose running into the engine bay, just wondering how you guys think it looks and if it looks like the hose could be touching anything problematic (hot parts of the engine)? :

And a couple pictures from after the install cause it was so nice outside today:

    Mods done so far:
    -Black out grilles
    -Dicelink hardwire cable
    -AWE Boost Gauge

    Doing this week:
    -Apikol Snub mount
    -JHM S/S
    -35% Tint

Then, buying new wheels and coils!

Engine bay pics like that make tearing all the shit out of my car 100% worthwhile! I hate OEM clutter!

Car looks good though, cant wait to see this ones build progression!

I'm sorry to say but your vacuum hook-up looks ghetto. Think you can run it under the manifold so its out of sight?

    Question for ya..

You ran it through your ECU box you said, did you drill a hole in the box to get the hose out?

It's all good. I originally wanted to run it under the manifold but the hose was too hard to get at so I took the easy route and went atop the engine. I'm sure if I want to clean up the engine and remove some stuff when I upgrade the turbo it'll be changed. Didn't even notice the oil cap.

NO! chances are if you did this you will get moisture in your ECU compartment and possibly fry your ecu unless you seal around the hole.

What I did is came up through the ECU compartment, then out through the large black rubber hose enclosing all the wires that go out into the engine bay. Once you look at the hose you will see three possible openings about 2 inches from the compartment you can choose to use (small medium and large). I used the largest hole, pulled the nipple off and fished the boost hose through with a coat hanger. Here's a pic to make some sense:

What I circled is where the boost hose comes out through the black hose. the seal is tight around the hose and won't let moisture in. Thanks Audi, good idea!

I'm not too sure.. I thought 8-12 psi was normal for stock. However my Y connector sucks and may be letting a small amount of air out. Will replace it with a better one soon and get back to ya.

Hey A4tune, you should tuck the boost hose under the manifold, That's what i did with mine.
