NJ- quesion/help needed about cops

Alright, I got a question, hoping one of you knows the answer.. I live in NJ, yeah bad enough already with the cops hassling people, but anyway. Would it be legal to run my car with NO front bumper skin(just the support) but still have the license plate on the front? reason I ask is I am waiting for my s4 front from the shop, and I can not run my a4 bumper with the FMIC that will be going on this weekend. So, legal or illegal to NOT have a front bumper SKIN? (with the plate still there of course, attatched somehow)

I'm pretty sure its legal but not entirely sure. As long as you have your license plate in front it should be fine. If you want I'll ask my professosr tomorrow (Both NYPD 20 years retired as detectives) but thats only ny policy. Pretty sure New Jersey is the same.

i did it about 5 years ago with my honda for about 2 days... cops did look at me but i wasn't bothered. i had all my lights in place with license plate.

Clint does it all the time. He has no front bumper.


Put the license plate on and you should be alright. The rebar is there and that is what really is doing the job. Your cover is just 'aesthetics'

You should be alright, but it is illegal. My friend had a Dakota without a front bumper since he crashed it into a tree and he got a ticket for it. If you have the license plate and lights on they SHOULDN'T bother you, but then again, it is NJ.
