Check to see if it's getting caught up at the back of the head. Sometimes you need to work it around a little to get it off...

When looking at the motor from the front check to see if the vacume lines on left above the turbo are holding it on becuase if my memorie serves me right I remember their being screws that hold the vacume to the VC.

    How about the obvious?

Did you loosen all the bolts?

New one-time-use clamps for vacuum lines. Just choose a different size for the EVAP stuff out back.

If you chose to replace the vacuum lines yourself here is the stuff I used:

100% Silicon 4mm Black vacuum line. 10ft at $2.00 a foot from Baker Precision Products http://www.bakerprecision.com
I'm sure you can buy them somewhere else but this is where I bought mine from.

OE-style hose clamps from McMaster-Carr (I love this place. Its like walking into the Sears tool department.) http://www.mcmaster.com

    Part Number: 52545K42
Item: Gap-Free Pinch Hose and Tube Clamp 5/16" to 3/8" Clamp ID Range, 13/64" Band Width
    Package of 25
    $6.82 / package

    Part Number: 6541K69
    Item: Side-Jaw Pinch Clamp Pincer
    $21.94

Prices as of July 2005. They may have changed since then. Part numbers are still current.

my valvecover job was the biggest FPITA as well..

Obviosuly it is on studs, so make sure everything is clear. There is the turbo oil line that must be unbolted (not removed just unbolted) from the back of the head
