I borrowed the words from a certain moderator (over on the TEX) , but I think its a fitting description
so, I picked up this sidemount from Killa last night (his car is real fast btw)
and went to put it on first thing this morning
pics off the car:
the install was a breeze, this deffinatly is the civilized way to mount an intercooler to our cars, it just popped in place. its really big, but it just filled the inner fender void perfect, it even lined right up with my S4 fender liner vent
in another thread I saw some people pointing out that it doesn't have mounting tabs, I can tell you for sure, it doesn't need any it mount solidly and securly as its just the exact shape of the space in the fender, I can't imaging how long it took to get the shaping of the end takns just right
the only thing that I trimmed in the install was the shroud, its probably not needed as any air comming in the bumper is forced over the intercooler as it has no where else to go, but I figgured it was worth my time to make it fit
since the original mounting points were trimmed off I screwed it to the rad support with 2 sheet metal screws
and with the bumper fitted:
I'm real happy cause its 100% real world friendly, the bumper comes on and off just as easy as stock, the intercooler doesn't sit any lower than stock so I have no fear of rough roads or bad driveways and you can't even tell I have it :D
oh yeah, and the car feels a bit faster with it on (buttdyno FTW)
(sorry for the blatent fortitude repost)
