How's everyone dealing with these gas prices nowadays? They are saying it will go above $4 a gallon by summer.
As much as I love my s4.....these prices are killing me.
Am I going to have to get rid of it...

    How does everyone else feel?

    Re: Gas prices..

Most of Europe has been paying far more than this for a very long time. Yeah it's spendy for sure but even having to spend $6-$7/gallon won't really affect my everyday life. We just won't go out to eat as much.

It's my daily driver. I have a mortgage, two daughters and a stay at home wife. If I couldn't afford the gas bill then I would definitely make a change.

    Re: Gas prices..

I'm in the market for a vintage bicycle as we speak, just a pain finding what I'm looking for.. it seems to be in high demand. The bike will be used to get to work. I spend $50 to fill up about once a week, with the bike it'll be about once every 2-3 weeks and help keep me in shape.

I also expect by this time next year to have an apartment much closer to my campus, which will save me a lot of money. Right now I drive 40 miles total to and from class. I'm pretty young and I remember when it used to cost 87 cents a gallon.

    LOL^^

honestly though...if you cant afford to pay gas for these cars, you bought the wrong car. Most people dont worry about gas with these cars. That's why others buy the A4. Sorry, didnt want to sound too "snotty" there.

    Re: Gas prices..

I paid $4.06 a gallon this morning. First morning above $4. Why did this have to happen right after I bought this gas guzzling beast? Such a relatively small V8 eats so much gas .

    Re: Gas prices..

It is my daily driver too and I do not know what everyone is really complaining about.
I am getting about 18MPG and comparing to all the SUVs out there, I think we are not that bad.
Is this the most efficient V8 out there? Hell no, I used to get 22MPG with my vette making the same hp.
If you are drive 15K a year and if you would be happy with 22MPG, the difference is only about 12 gallons a month of less than $50.
If you would not be happy with 22MPG, then you bought the wrong car.
Quit your bitchin and go enjoy your car

    dont compare EU to US
there are way more public transportation and way shorter distances to work and everything else BTW in europe cars are actually using diesel, there are bigger selection in engines and more models

So you're saying that you'd rather take the bus than drive the Autobahn if you lived in Germany?

    Re: Gas prices..

Seriously. Try easing up on the right pedal a bit. You should be able to get 17-18 mpg even driving pretty hard. At 15k/year & $4/gallon thats only only $3500 for gas. If you can't afford that then you shouldn't have bought a $50k+ car.

please don't compare our gas prices to Europe. they drive diesel, and that's basically just saying that you don't really give a sh*t about our economy. if you don't mind European gas prices go over there...as gas goes up in America the price of EVERYTHING else parallels.

I love filling up my tank. I even pour a little on the floor for my buddies who couldn't make it.

But seriously, life is rough. You just gotta grin and bear it. Get out there and grab as much cash as you can and njoy life. Don't sell the S4 just go find a way to make some more money. Make the car your incentive.

Honestly, why, for the love of god, would you get a performance car if gas price was an issue? WHY!?!?!

Europe is rediculous to compare to the US, the cost of living out there is generally less, people are not taxed twice, and as has been mentioned most people drive small engine deisels and get like 45-50mpg. Oh yeah, public transportion works really well out there too.

If you can, get a widget on your computer to get the lowest prices in your area. Costco is always 10 to 15 cents cheaper. The raise in gas price its also b/c of the sucky US economy and falling US dollars. Bush has screwed everyone by farting money away on the war.

No matter what car you drive, Geo or Ferrari, if you cannot afford the gas...you cannot afford the car.

If you are in this position, buying an S4 was probably a poor financial decision under your circumstances.

The S4 is an enthusiasts car. If you love it there are other things you can cut back on to offset the rising fuel costs.

To clear things up, I'm not saying I'm getting rid of the car.
When i purchased my s4, I was in a much better financial situation.
It was a thought due to my current situation, but I will be keeping her.

    Was just looking for feedback.

    Re: Gas prices..

today I tested myself. I drive 30miles one way to work every morning and what i did this morning was pay attention to the MPG. I just kept a constant speed which was 75-77 miles per hour I was getting anywhere from 24.3-24.7mpg. (one time it touch on 25). I live in NY so my commute consist of TZ bridge along with I95. If I just lay off the right pedal which is very difficult to do in a car like this, I think I will be in great shape. I noticed that even if Im doing 80mph Im still under 3krpm. The gas situation does piss me off for one reason, which is a year ago the price one $2something. no reason why this should happen. Im not one of those people that cares about how much money I spend at the gas station. It just bothers me when I see the price go up just becasue the season is going to change.

    Re: Gas prices..

I take the train daily to work, and for some areas it's hard to come by means to get there without a car. So i understand that most people NEED to drive based on the structure of the US. I'd like to see some better public trans but I don't think that will happen until people just cant afford to drive.
