Fuel sensor?

So my fuel gauge started acting up last week, Right around 1/3 tank of gas left, it will jump around a bunch. I have a buddy who has a fuel pump/sensor from a 2002 A4 1.8t. Will that sensor work on my 1999.5 a4 1.8t? Please, if anyone knows if it will work let me know.

I have looked around and it looks like its the sensor that sits right on top of the fuel pump right?

its the fuel level sender in the tank.

Do you know if the 2002 one will work on my 1999.5?
