Wheel locks? do you guys use them?

I dont live in the ghetto of Toronto, but there are ghetto people everywhere.....do you guys bother putting wheel locks on your summer tires?

if you do, what kind is best?

if you have aftermarket wheels i strongly suggest it, you don't have to live in a bad area to get robbed....

i dont know what's good but RAD seems pretty good..

ya i use em for sure if you spend that much on rims and tires might as well spend the 50$ of w.e they cost to protect that purchase

Exactly, the extra few dollars on a set is well worth it.
I have RAD wheel locks that I run year around.

Not that i'm against wheel locks, but..... It's really not difficult at all for thieves to get the key for them..

I haven't used them in the past but I guess I'll use them with my new "shoes". Years ago, a dealership supplied them for my wife's new V70 (not sure why anyone would steal 15" alloys??) and one of them broke causing a real PITA to remove the wheel. Moral of the story, get quality ones to avoid this issue !

I use wheel locks all the time, even on my winters. It's just piece of mind , after all your car is something you're proud of and want to baby. I have a set of OEM locks for sale if you are interested.

Most shops can get them, I know Independent sells RAD locks. I ordered mine online when I got them years ago.

kinda funny..4 years ago, my friend was watchinga movie at stc...and he came out to cement blocks on his car...he had a B6 1.8T..stock wheels..no wheel locks...

kinda funny..4 years ago, my friend was watchinga movie at stc...and he came out to cement blocks on his car...he had a B6 1.8T..stock wheels..no wheel locks...

It is easy to get most of them off... You just hammer an old socket onto them (though that is noisy)... I am also sure that using one of those things CDN tire sells... the 'socket' that kind of has teeth in it... That'd likely get anything out. It destroys the lug, but I doubt if thieves care. :P

For the price, they are worth it... they can deter the dumber thieves.

Do you guys use one locking bolt per wheel? Sorry, sort of a noob question. Wasnt sure if the weight difference could cause any balance issues at higher speeds...

One per wheel (wheel locks come in sets of 4) and no, the slight difference in weight has no impact due to the weight being close to the centre of the wheel.
