    cheap suspension upgrades

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm looking to improve the handling of my non s-line A4Q.

I can't afford coilovers. I'm wondering if Sline springs and a bigger rear anti-roll bar would be worth my money.

No matter how cheap the components, I still have to pay to have them installed (don't have the tools, space, or expertise to do it myself). Also how big of an anti-roll bar would the experts at AZ recommend without a full badass suspension?

I'm working on tires, which should make a big difference as well (i'm on allseasons right now).

Yes, a stabilizer bar is well worth the money spent, the RS-4 bar specifically.

    good to know

would i save on labor if I had the springs swapped out while I had the swaybar installed and is it worth going for cheap spring setup (eibach or S-line) or should I just save for coilovers?

    Re: cheap suspension upgrades

the sline springs are good enough but not perfect go with eibach
In europe the labor for springs and the roll bar will be 150e so i suppose in usa will be even cheaper ;)

It doesn't matter if you get springs or cheap C/O's. Install will cost roughly the same.

    Re: cheap suspension upgrades

I put Tein S Tech springs on my B6 with the stock shocks and an old S4 RSB when I parted it out and sold it. It worked remarkably well- I'd say the Tein springs are are a decent alternative to Eibach pro kit springs @ about half price. Decent ride, OK drop, not too low, good handling. A friend still has the car set up like this and is very happy.

I'd still recommend the RS4 rear bar, and cut down the bumpstops .5-1".

In fact, I have a set of sport package shocks I'd let go for $100. Pair those with the Tein springs and you'd have a decent handling car for the same cost as Eibachs- plus it would be christmas in your fenderwells all year long (green springs, red shocks). PM if interested.

    Re: cheap suspension upgrades

go in the classifieds and wait for a used set to show up (either oem sport suspension, shock/spring combo, or CO's). Install will be the same no matter what you get since all the same stuff has to come off and reinstalled.

I would wait for a used set of CO's if you are on a budget. After all that money is spent in installing the oem sport suspension you are gonna realize you still look like any other A4.

And I agree with the rear sway - go for it.

    Re: cheap suspension upgrades

I agree with using the classifieds. I picked up the oem sports suspension for peanuts with little to no miles on it (someone installed coilovers). I also bought the RS4 rear sway and had everything installed together. Overall I'm happy with the ride but I also didn't want something that rode too low. It is a nice improvement over the stock ride height. Most readers on here install coilovers for a lower stance and tighter handling. If that is what you want then stay away from the sports suspension.
