Just a quick question on choosing the appropriate tire size for both 18" and 19"

I am about to get new wheels in the near future. Right now I have 18" wheels with 235/35 size tire......Since I drive along the shittiest road in Charleston, I have always had my mind set on getting another set of only 18". Since the ride is fairly harsh on 18" I couldnt imagine 19"....But if I have the option of getting 19" my choice of wheel would GREATLY increase.

    So what would ride smoother:

18" wheels with 235/35 tire size (current setup)

    or

    19" wheels with 235/40 tire size ?

Also, if I was to go the 235/40/19 setup, would it, significantly, give me a wrong (lower) speed?

Proper tire size (OEM) for an 18" wheel is 235/40/18 and for a 19" wheel it's 235/35/19.

Neither of these are really the correct size. First is too small and second is too big.

I am running 245/40/R18 and at 70mhp on the dash my gps says 71mph and 90mph it goes up to 92mph. I still have plenty of sidewall for the shitty roads that I have to drive on. I get a little rub on big dips or really hard corners but stil only about once a week

You seem to be the only one running 235/35/18. Normal size (OEM spec) for an 18" wheel for our car is 235/40/18.

This really depends on the width of the wheel as well.
Nice Zenders. Not a popular wheel, but it's good to be different sometimes.

thanks sandspeed....i bought the car with those wheels...apparantly they arent made anymore...I personally do not like them, lol...but I am always getting compliments on them, lol

So, obviously I am running the wrong tire.....so heres the question:

Will a 235/35/18 ride (smoothness wise) similiar to a 235/35/19?

    Are those wheels 7.5", 8", or 8.5"?

And yeah, I'm not a big fan either, but I almost picked up a set from Germany for dirt cheap just because they were, ummm... dirt cheap. Instead I picked up a set of ABT Sportsline SP0s for very cheap. Sometimes it's nice to have some wierd rims. Then when people start making fun of them, you can say "Yeah, you're right. I think I'll go back to the house and swap for one of my sets of BBS wheels, or maybe something else". I'm a wheel whore. What can I say?
