    Tial 44mm wastegate question!

I'm using a greddy profec b spec 2 boost controller and a tial 44mm wastegate. The wastegate has 2 nipples on it and I am confuse on what goes where. I have the ebc setup for an external wastegate. So from searching I think the top fitting gets hooked up to the same line as the solenoid pressure line and the side fitting is just from the correct port on the solenoid. Any help is appreciated!!

The top one goes to the step solenoid oulet, the one on the side of the wg needs to go to a T which you also connect a pressure hose from the compressor housing. That hose then goes to the inlet side of the step solenoid.

Here is a picture of mine which is hooked up that way.

MMMMM interesting. So the solenoid actual controls the wastegate by venting the top of the wastegate. Also the solenoid has 3 ports on it. And the manual has one diagram for an internal wastegate that uses two ports and one diagram for external wastegate setup that uses 2 other ports why is this?

If the solenoid has 3 ports one of those is for a vac line from the manfiold so that the ebc can read vac/boost. The older profec B had the 2 wg ports on the solenoid and the vac/boost line went to the actual control unit inside the car.

The manual just shows how to install it with a internal wg which only has 1 fitting while a external wg has 2 fittings. The 2 wg setups work completely different, with the internal needing pressure to open it while the external uses pressure to both keep it closed and force it open quicker when using a EBC, this means that once the ebc lowers the pressure being applied on top the pressure below the diaphram forces it open really fast. You can use just the side fitting on the external wg but this is only done when using a MBC to force open the valve while the spring pressure keeps it closed.

The new spec 2 has a port on the module itself for manifold pressure. So I'm quessing that one of the three solenoid ports is just left plugged.

Also it says to not mount it anywhere to hot. Where did you mount yours mike? I bolted it to the same hole as the old airbox used. So I don't know if that will last.

Well on the compressor housing or right after the turbo on the hot side pipe. This can be done by adding a nipple on the pipe or by drilling a hole and tapping so you can thread in a fitting.

I used that spot for a long time without any problems, you can just see the step motor mounted to the fender in the picture I posted up above.
