    Re: I believe...

Sorry to any fans who take this offensively but I dont understand why people get so into "their" team. Most fans do not have anything invested in the teams and "your" team does not directly contribute to your personal gains. No stocks, no dividends, profit sharing, nothing.

"your" team is not owned by you, you paid for all the tickets and merchandise. "Your" team is owned by some rich guy and you keep putting money in his pocket. Getting emotional with "your" team is hook, line and sinker to the real owners of the teams.

This behavior of fans is very common to all sports where fans buy into all the marketing around it and gladly fork over their hard earned money for "their" team. Most Audi owners are independent thinkers who do not follow the crowd like lemmings.

Watching the game as entertainment or admiring a great player I would understand but getting too emotional about "your" team is like getting emotional about "your" brand of soda.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Re: I believe...

Maybe your just caught up in the Capitalistic society we live in, you believe because there is no actual physical capital being gained from being a fan it makes no sense to invest in something with no profit...Although it may seem this way, people gain a sense of belonging and pride, they feel the team represents them and to some there is no price to this....

    P.S. GO Warriors.....

    Re: I believe...

^^^ GO_S4, you are very right about me being Capitalistic. The example i used was very Capitalistic. But in our society everyone have to be capitalistic, thats how we got our Audis.

My point is I understand people gaining a sense of belonging and pride if the have a stake in it. For example, a fan's friend/acquaintance playing in the team. Feeling belonging and pride to something that has no way related to the fan isn't thinking independently.

Its like I drink Coke and so I feel a sense of belonging and pride to the Coke company.

    P.S. Go Coke!

Step back from all the fanfare/marketing and think independently. I always enjoy a good discussion and learn new perspectives.

ok back to the warriors, yes i was at last night's game and it good not great by any means, but the warriors need to do more of what they did last night if they have any chance to even win the remaining games on their schedule. I will be at the remainder of homes games for the season.

I am more into motorsports like F1 and WRC. I admire and watch the individual drivers for the skill and the cars' technology. I do not get emotional when the manufacturer win or loose. Its all about marketing to them.

    Re: I believe...

Simona is obviously not a sports fan. The teams are indeed a business when it all comes down to it. Just like auto racing at its highest level.

You gotta at least like some kind of sport. Maybe LaCross or Water Polo? Different strokes for different folks I guess. I can critic you all day about how you dont like sports and IMO think you should grow some nuts. Golf is probably my most respected game out there because its all about the individual. You say you like motorsports like F1 and WRC but even your Michael Schumacher cant win a race w/o his team.

Grow some nuts... grow some nuts... grow some nuts... grow some nuts... Hahahaha!

    Re: I believe...

^^ Funny how Daddy_MO associate sports to one's family jewels...not a relevant point that relates to this discussion.

My point is to encourage people to think outside of the box. I was a Bull's fan back my university days. Bulls had Dennis Rodman and the legendary Jordan. But lost interest after I realize all my amateur predictions, frustrations, emails to the team, and emotional outburst when watching the game has no effect on the team.

Do whatever that floats your boat but find some moments to step back and understand why you are doing it. You will learn a bit about yourself.

To Daddy_MO's point, Schumacher is a great but not a ethical racer and do not deserve as much respect. The late Senna(F1), Jacky Stewart(F1), Sebastien Loeb(WRC), Marcus Gronholm(WRC), and the late Colin McRae(WRC) are much respected World Champion Drivers.

For those of you who been on Go Karts, F1 is like Go Kart x10 if not more. Most WRC drivers dont blink until they have finish their stage. Most Stages last for 10 to 20 minutes.

World Championships in F1 and WRC are REAL international events with events and teams from multiple countries, ie France, Germany, Japan, India, Italy, etc. Unlike the "World Series" in US baseball.

I am into motorsport also because I love driving. I was into the Bulls in college because I loved to play basketball.

    Re: I believe...

A 125 shifter is the only thing on 4 wheels that has humbled me =)

Simona... the whole "grow some nuts" thing was brought up because I just couldnt imagine any man not into team sports. Even if a man coached his kids soccer team is enough.

F1 and WRC are indeed international sports and its a shame that the US just doesn't have a market for it. Same w/ touring car (I wish). Just remember that it is also a team sport.

Now GOLF, is an international sport and its all about "I".

    Re: I believe...

Simona, I've held your point from time to time. Especially after a team I care about loses a big game. I would get pissed off then realize I let something I have no effect on control my mood. However, I will always follow my local teams. Watching human beings reach the pinnacle of physical ability in a competitive atmosphere is one of the most entertaining things available to the common person. I've seen people take it overboard and I can see where you're coming from, but the more people think like you the worse this town, state, country and world will be, imo. From what I can tell, above all, you look out for number one. That's understandable but at the same time we live in a place where people come from all over the world to live and have been for ever. For the most part those people care about themselves and their people. They hold no feelings for the place they live in and maybe, as you pobably do, see it as a weekness. From this comes a society that can't acomplish anything as a group and slowly but surely decays. I assume you're at an income level which means you probably wouldn't see people who think like you acting in a negative way towards the place they live. That's a good thing, but your rationalizations are out there, ruining the world on a daily basis.

Everyones got his/her own opinion and at the end of the day its all entertaining.

I just realized the OP "WARNING" is out of SOCAL and put a big ass grin up there. Oh god, hes gotta be a Lakers fan I bet!!! Hahahahaha.... hes right though, we shot ourselves in the foot against Denver the other night. We should have been playing the Hornets in round 1.

    Re: I believe...

I think Don Nelson has seriously set this team back. If we had just about any other coach Brandon and Andris would be the starting back court by now. Since Nelson "doesn't play rookies" he decided to wait until there was about 20 games left to find out how good Wright is. I hope they can make the playoffs because they're as fun to watch as anything out there. Realisticly speaking though, the Warriors are not a Championship contender and wont be until a coach comes in here and gives them a little discipline and foresight. Also, it's crazy how much better they would be with Troy Murphy at the 4 instead of Harrington. Sometimes he can win a game for you, but for the most part his play makes me sick. The warriors should win tonight but we have to route for stupid Utah as well.

That's very true for this year. This will probably be the most wins they have had since '94 and as of now it looks like they will be on vacation next week. I was talking about next year and even more the year after that. He doesn't make them play defense and Brandon Wright should be the starting forward next year.
