    Revo Chip: New Appreciation

Just picked up my car from the Audi dealership for regular service and had the CH Update done. Pulling out of the dealership, I immediately realized how much I love Revo. Because for the first time in several months, I didn't have the power I have grown so used to. Even compared to the A3 2.0T DSG I had as a loaner, the A4 feels flat-out slow! This is more appreciation for the Revo than the first time I got sideways flooring it out of a turn after the flash! Anyone else get the CH update? Was it only an ECU service- does anyone know what all it entailed?

Haha I'm feeling the Civics comment! I sat in an Si at the Dallas show for the 5th or 6th time, and finally think I understand the appeal.. Uh oh. [O_O]
Stock tuning really is infuriatingly slow, and it is completely understandable why they can still make a strong case for the 3.2.
They claimed they couldn't replicate the tranny issue, and on the drive home I didn't experience it. Did notice tons of subtle differences between the A3 and A4. At the end of the day, the A4 is a much better car. Surprisingly, it is even better through the turns. Some people may say otherwise, but I could not for the life of me keep up with an E90 330i on the same road that I often devour with the A4.

The A3 is nice...but there are some things about it that need work. I had one with DSG and the full S-line package. Great looking car, great seats, the sport suspension is really nice as well. One of the big faults I noticed was the brakes. The brakes on the A4 are far superior to the brakes on the A3. That's me just tooling around at stop lights. The brakes on the A4 grab a lot harder.

I noticed that, too. When I first got back in my car I almost got rear-ended because I stopped so much sooner than I had been used to. I had an 08 S-Line. Seats beat ours, prefer manual transmission to DSG (acts like a 16 year old learning to drive stick in reverse and low speed parking and idling), torque steer although managable is silly, as are constant front wheel tire chirps pulling away from stop lights/signs.
Between the A3 loaner (which was very fun, don't get me wrong!) and lack of Revo now, I really appreciate what a great product the Revo chip is and the quattro A4 is in general!

haha looks like you and chrislane31 both got sideways today

chrislane1: Wow what a difference. I just got the new ecu update from Audi and the new G-version DV and then got reflashed with APR and the next day threw in some iridium plugs. The car now feels like it did on 100 octane. Its like a new car. Its fun getting a little sideways when pulling out. I may run some 100 for the show this weekend.

my 07 2.0t and my friend's 06 2.0t went to service at the same time /same dealer. it seems only 06 has the ECU update. the update didn't happen with my car.

Actually, I haven't been reflashed with Revo yet..! The shop was already closed by the time I picked up my car. I need it badly though.

x3, I had the same thing as a loaner last week when, after 5 days of ownership, my car wouldn't start due to infamous coil pack failure. Seat are better, brakes are WAY crappier, DSG is ok, and yeah the front wheel chirps are annoying. Cool car, but I'll still take my A4.
