B6 S4 vs. 350HP 5.7L GTO

i know typically nobody posts kill stories...its frowned upon....etc. especially in the S4 forum cuz we are just to good for it....but anyways, i do. so moving on the story portion.

STOCK B6 S4 vs. STOCK 5.7L GTO

it was a highway run with noone around so everyone can relax. on to the story, i'm actually crusing along in the left lane at left lane speeds minding my own business...there is a GTO in the middle lane that I pass. And I get a good 4 or 5 cars ahead of him and then he runs up on me and is holding even. I look over like what? and he asks if I want to run. I'm thinking I had just filled up with gas...my car is a heavy pig...I even have the spare in the trunk, i dunno. this was only a few days after i had picked up the s4, so its still new to me driving it. but at the same time i say why not...road is clear. i drop it into 4th....didn't feel peppy enough....and then I drop into 3rd feels better. coming from my A4 with a 5spd...i would drop it into 4th at 70...even though i could do 3rd...it would put me out of my power band. so i'm at 3rd and we slow it down to about 60ish. he starts to honk....and on 3 we are off. the s4 pulls out by a half car on the GTO. in between the 5k-6k rpm range i see him coming back....he creeps up to about a 1/4 car...and i'm thinking in my head great...his 5.7L is gonna walk me now on the high end. but from 6k-7k....i push him back to 1/2 car. we repeated that exact same thing in 4th gear....and part way through 5th and the GTO gave up and then I stopped.

i was actually expecting to lose...considering how heavy our cars....i just filled up with a full as full can be tank of gas...so a full weight car. he could have been on a 1/4 tank of gas or some sneaky mod...which is why i felt like he rushed up to me. and with him doing the honking that gives him the natural advantage. but the s4 still pulled out ahead. he then drove up to me and gave me the thumbs up. had to say i was impressed with the car. i know his car is similar in weight and similar in power. so i figured it be a good race....turned out...i won.

then i on the way home a silver 5.7L GTO tries me on the same day, ( i'm thinking is there a sign on my car thats says fVck with me?) only he got dogged...i'm assuming wrong gear pick cuz i walked away like nothing.

Great story and good job. I've posted several beat downs on this forum too and the comments come in all differnt flavors. I haven't won every race (chipped 335 walked me) but aside from that, the S4 is just an all around great car. Looks awesome, drives great in any weather, has an interior that puts most others to shame, has a glorious sounding V8, (try that in a 335) and gets so much attention sometimes I feel like I'm in a Lambo. Add all that up and you have a lot to be happy about. It's not the fastest car out there, but who cares. People respect what it is and Audi has done a lot to help that along. And yes, there must be something about the car that screams, RACE ME. Just yesterday these two turds in a SN95 Cobra pull up next to me and wanted to go. I would have had some fun with them but the conditions were all wrong and I had my son in the car. Thanks for the story.

I had the same thing happen last week, it was a 5.7 as well but he had some exhaust work done. It was pretty close but I started to pull a little when I topped out in 5th hitting the rev limiter. We had to slow it down after that but I was pretty happy and he gave me a big thumbs up to.

yeah i'm notorious for posting my stories on this AZ. we should have a b6/b7/s4 rs4 chatterbox where we can post kill stories. i had a pretty well modded a4....i had to see how the work i did held up...and i wanted to post my stories. i didn't always win either.

yeah since i just got the car....i race my reaction. i was more used to my a4 5spd. so learning the power curve...what gears to be in, etc. i thought this was a perfect opportunity to find out what this car has. most of the time...i'm driving it nice so my MPGs read around 22.2mpg. so you know i'm being nice to the car...but if someone asks to run....i won't turn them down. gotta see where i'm at. and yes i have my son sometimes in my backseat who is only 4 months old...so i don't screw around with him or my wife in the car. i thought it was a good opportunity....so i went for it. lately i've been seeing all these GTOs....must be on sale cuz they are just over populating the street. i'm looking to try against a 400HP 6.0L GTO and see how the car does. its getting nice here in chi-town so the cars are coming out...lots o GTOs need a whooping.

your right...its not the fastest car out there....but it can hold its own. it was only about 4 or 5 days after i got it...dropped a full tank from picking it up down state IL and then this opportunity appears. anyone who knows me...knows i'm a sucker for it. my brother also has an 04 S4...and he's looking to go CB exhaust and chip...i'll see how i do against a lightly modded S4 vs my stock. if he whoops on me...then i'll be joining him...if not. i dunno. if figure we do some dyno runs too to see gains of his car with cb and chip vs stock.

I've had the same luck against GTO's as well, the 5.7 version that is. Got walked by the 6.0.. guess i need that GIAC chip.

Congrats on the kill..... I raced a black 5.7 GTO about three weeks ago (empty highway at 2:30 am). Like you, I wasn't expecting to win... It's just that I rarely get anyone willing to race me so I figured what the hell. And to my surprise I beat him by about 1 1/2car lenghts to about 135mph, then I backed off....

The 6.0 cars are low 13 to high 12 second cars. I have a few friends that bracket race them and I was able to line up with one of them for a race while I was doing some driving in a B6 1.8t Avant with a GTRS elim kit.

Here is a tip from my experience.. If you are sitting at a red light on a rural road all alone next to a 6.0 gto, don't do it. I actually launched my car fairly hard and it wasn't even close - I didn't even try to count the cars I lost by.. I suspect his car was not stock either while mine was...

so your saying you beat 5.7 GTOs with a 14.1 time on 110 octane? with your 2.0T with the mods you have listed? is this street racing or at the drags? having a hard time believing you....sorry. my a4 was pushing low 14s or high 13s on pump and i lost to my S4. i guess anything can happen but my a4 was pushing quicker on pump.

Yeah believe it or not the automatic's are quicker then the manuals when drag racing, but this is because they can get off the line better since the manuals guys rev too high and end up spinning their tires too much. The yellow one in my video is a automatic.

yeah everytime, they all seem to wheelhop and starve for traction at the strip. I have 2 friends with GTO's too and they can not keep up with me on the track. They are getting 2.3 to 2.3 60ft times and now im in the low 1.8s. If you look at that database again it shows everything stock except a chip with my 14.1 runs. Look at my current mods now (no new quarter mile time yet) and I also have a APR fuel pump in my living room waiting to be installed, with that I may be able to run with the 6.0's

Traping at 96 because of fuel cuts not lack of power. If I remember correctly the B6 and B7 S4 Tips on this foruum were having a very hard time breaking into the 2.0 60 ft times
