    while i don't have esp, my abs light and brake light where on because my abs module had gone bad, i had it rebuilt by modulemasters for 200 bux and it's better than new

    but in your case could be a sensor perhaps?

    Re: Esp + Abs

    had the same problem when I first got the car about 9 months ago, both lights came on about 3 times and once the light remained on for about a week and while I was driving to the dealership to get it looked at it mysteriously disappeared. Hasn't happened since....I'm assuming it was a sensor...but I could be wrong...

    Re: Esp + Abs

    i pulled my own codes, however since my module was bad i couldn't communicate with it so it was pretty obviouse what mine was... take yours to autozone or something like that and get the codes pulled for you if you don't have vag-com and we can help alot better

    I called my service rep and told him the situation and he said unless the light is on, I'm gonna get hit with a diagnosis fee, so when I heard that I did a u turn and went home LOL best move ever as I've never seen the light on since (knock on wood!) In my case the sensor was prolly just dirty as I've had the car vag'ed a few times after and there haven't been any codes whatsoever indicating a faulty sensor, module or whatever....

    Check to see if your brake lights function when the warning lights display. I had the same problem with the warning lights and did not have any functioning brake lights, it was the brake light switch. Cost me about $18.00 to fix.

    its good and its bad.
    good = lights are off
    bad = Since they are off I dont want to waste my time bringing it to the dealer.

    I will go to autozone in a day or 2 and see if they can pull up some codes.
    if lights come back on I will check my brake lights too.

    thanx for the help thus far

    see if VAG can connect to your ABS MODULE

    if communication fails then you gotta replace/repair it

    Tried autozone, they said they can't connect to check ESP or ABS. I live in syracuse, NY. anyone know of a vag-com out here I can connect to?

    I really would hate taking the car to the dealer, paying 50 bucks just to tell me that right now nothing is wrong.
