Just noticed that my A4 has a little subwoofer behind the rear seat, but the screen that covers it from the top rattles when the bass hits. anyone know how this can be fixed or pulled out so i can make it stop.

    Re: Rattle in the back...

Ugh, I've been complaining to my dealer about this for the past 5 months. They said nothing can be done and they all do that.

My service rep said they can replace the rear deck, but it still wouldn't change. I asked to sit in an A4 loaner and see if it does the same; it does.

    It sucks I know.

    Re: Rattle in the back...

i noticed if you push it down on the grill from the driver side, it stops rattling. i'll figure something out and i'll report back. i'm kinda good at finding rattles and fixing it but i just wanted to see if there an easier way to take off the grill.

    Re: Rattle in the back...

Mine doesn't rattle at all, and I blast my music with full bass all the time.

Have you inspected yours? Can you shove some pieces of foam/felt or something on any contact points to reduce rattling? I've never looked at mine since I haven't had any rattling...

    Re: Rattle in the back...

I noticed that my rear brake light is what is rattling. If you lie in the trunk on your back and look directly up once inside, maybe you can secure the light somehow...

    Re: Rattle in the back...

i have the same rattling in the back, it could be cause of my w7....

anyway, my audio installer put some spacers in the rear deck so it wouldnt rattle as much, it helps a little. I am sure if you dont have a subwoofer this solution would work!!

There's actually no screws holding the speaker grill in the back. They have those fragile plastic tabs.

Just popped them off and stuffed a sock in there. The way the back of the subwoofer is sticking out, it
hits the underside of the grill thus making the nasty rattle sound.

    Re: Rattle in the back...

folded a regular sock and placed it right on the back of the subwoofer. worked like a charm.

    Re: Rattle in the back...

yeah just get like a flat head screw driver and place it under the grill near the corner. pop it off right there and work your way to the left side. you can see the tab holes in the picture, just try to pry up and away from you cause the tabs are facing you, so you don't strip the tabs. once you get one side off, pull off the other side towards you and it should come right off.

and i put the sock on top where you circled it. try not to use a thick one. a skinny one will do just fine.

    Re: Rattle in the back...

    Nice write up

I just started to get a really annoying rattle somewhere around my backseat, but it is not related to the bass hitting... I couldn't find it when it would happen, but I didn't think to look up by that speaker grill. Maybe mine is rattling now too OMG we're like brothers

    Re: Rattle in the back...

thanks phrost, not really a write up but i'll take the credit.
yeah i would check that grill, cause that rattle annoys the heck out of me.
but it's fixed now and the system just sounds way nicer now.
i get really irritated when i hear squeaks and rattles in the car.
if i can't tell where it's coming from when i'm driving, i have my brother
drive my car around while i'm in the back trying to look for the culprit.

    Re: Rattle in the back...

haha I was thinking of doing that too.

On my front driver door, the panel right under the tweeter sits really tight against the side of the dash and that squeaks in my car once in a while... I hate it but all I have to do is punch that area once or twice and it stops.

I think I'll start rubbing KY jelly all over my interior on any contact points so shit stops squeaking
