So, on my lovely trip from Oklahoma Shitty to Washington state, the wife, child and I could only take one vehicle to simplify stuff... We would ship the other... Since my A4 was cheaper to ship than her boat that takes up two vehicle spaces, we ship my A4. The car was supposed to be here TODAY but the online tracking says it is still in OKC... So I call them up and say that my car has an oil leak and they need to do logistic shipping or something along those lines. I told them no, my car doesn't have an oil leak. "Yes sir, actually it does." No it doesn't because I just replaced all seals not too long ago...

"Well, let me put you over to the person you need to talk to"

25 minute wait...

Me: Yeah just wondering what is going on with my car...

Them: Well it appears that the engine and transmission are completely blown and the car is not drivable. It was due to an oil leak that you had.

Me: Bullshit! There were NO leaks on the car at all when I dropped it off... Plus why didn't you guys call and tell me when it happened?

Them: Well sir, you dropped it off like that...

Me: NO! I have the sheet stating it's condition and there was NOTHING wrong with the car except a few rock chips!

Them: Well, we are sorry and have to take special precautions to ship your vehicle now...

Me: BUT IT WAS UNDAMAGED WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF! This better be a damn joke! I wan't my damn car!

Them: Well, I will go ahead and call to see what is going on with it so we can get your car to you as soon as possible...

Me: I don't want the fuckin thing if it is damaged... If it does turn out to be damaged, I want my shipping money back and you will buy me a new car...

Them: Well, I will call you back when I find something out...

Me: You better.... *click*

wow, it sounds as if they damaged it getting it onto the truck or they had a joy ride in your car...I would honestly check the miles when you get it if you remember what was on it to begin with, because being put on the truck should not be more than 1 mile. depending on where the odometer was before... hope you get a new car out of it or atleast kbb value for it...

Well atleast have a check in sheet saying it was ok when you dropped it off. Like OneMore said, have them email you some pics. Or if you have family or something still there, have them go check it out.

I would look over all the information that is on the sheet that shows the condition of the vehicle when it was dropped off. Did anyone do an inspection of the car and if so did they sign as to the condition of the vehicle, like that it was in running condition, the mileage of the vehicle and so on.

They can say whatever they want but the fact is if they signed off on the vehicle, and that it was in good condition then they are responsible for whatever damages were incurred after the car was dropped off. I would take onemoremile's advice and ask to see pictures of the damage and then if they continue to give you a hard time, tell them you are going to get a lawyer.

Also make sure you have all your documentation as to the condition of the vehicle before it was dropped off so you can prove that the vehicle was properly maintained and in running condition prior to you taking the car to the transportation company.

I would imagine that there would be some kind of car inventory. At least where I work when we ship a car there are inventory sheets for inside/exterior. Hopefully they offered somekind of insurance incase the truck got in an accident of something. Sorry sucks to hear.

Don't tell them anything.. Get a lawyer. ASAP.

Find a way to get back to OKC, don't worry about the price because that'll be settled in court. Have them hold the car exactly where it sits now, and head up there. Have the car towed to the place where you had your last service, (assuming you didn't do it yourself) and etc. Show them the reciepts for everything, and then get the meanest German shepherd/pitbull mix you can find from some random trashy neighborhood of your choice.

Then, release the dog onto Dependable Auto Shippers, and have your lawyer ram a paper into their face, telling them if they sign it the dog will let go.. and you will get any Audi of your choice.

Trust me. Its a win/win situation.

Nexus1155: The exact mileage was 110048 on the odometer and 245.4 on the trip... I will definatly make sure it doesn't have over 1 mile put on it, especially from terminal to terminal...

LouStylez: Yes they have a condition report but don't have an odometer reading. They don't even have any other information such as plate number, vin or even MODEL of the car... Just says Audi. All damage is already accounted for...

Here's my input on Dependable Auto Shippers. I sell cars on ebay, and have always used DAS. I have probably shipped 50-60 cars with them over the past year. About a month ago, I had a situation where they quoted a customer of mine $350 to ship his car, and a transport time of 12 days. As of this week, they had still not picked up the car. The customer called and asked what the deal was. Their response was that because of the increase in gas prices, the move would now cost $650. The customer got very irritated with both them, and me (since I recommended DAS to the customer). When I called DAS, their attitude was basically 'tough cookies' about the whole thing, despite my huge amount of reoccurring business. I ended up having to pay to have the vehicle shipped through another service. I have heard several other horror stories about DAS through friends in the business, and will never recommend them again.
