    H&R Spring install question

I have a new to me 07' RS 4, so far I love it.

My plan is to install a set of H&R springs, the rear set doesn't look like it will be a problem, but I am wondering about the front set.

I do not want to remove the diagonal oil lines from the shock itself and I am wondering if the new spring can be installed without doing so.

Has anybody performed this mod that can provide any insight?

BTW, first post on what seems like the best RS 4 forum!

    Re: H&R Spring install question

I have posted a similar query on UK sites but no-one seems to have the answer. It would appear that it is necessary to extract fluid from the system to prevent it from becoming over-pressurised after the fitment of shorter springs i.e. you need to have the DRC charging device VAS 6209. Most Audi dealers have this but few, if any, after market suppliers, do.
Dutch JDEngineering owner, Jereon, to by-pass this method to lower the front, actually chopped and re-welded the front strut just above the fork. Very effective but not for the faint hearted.
I have negotiated with my local Audi dealer to fit the fronts for me as I shall only have to pay for 1 side - the other will be done under warranty as the o/s shock is leaking. Who knows, by the time the back-order shock and central valve arrive, the other shock may leak and I shall get them both done for free!

    Re: H&R Spring install question

one of my friends has installed it on his rs4, and afterwards he had a horrible clicking noise every wheel rotation and something was seriously wrong. they figured out eventually teh shop had screwed up while doing what i think you are describing in draining the fluid etc, i guess the fluid leaked out again ater they were finished? so it was all screwed up... no ideas on your specific issue though, sorry. best of luck

    ps. post pics.

You should take a look at Fourtitude's 4 Season Test series on the S4. http://www.fourtitude.com/news...shtml

They fitted a set of H&R Sport Springs to their S4 and had some good reviews.
