    Re: Innovative smic

are you referring to the IPP side mounts? I have them, the installation wasn't that bad and I only had to trim a little bit of the rad support... as for performance, they are just slightly better than stock IIRC, i wouldn't have installed them if i didn't get them for free

    Re: Innovative smic

Yeah ummm... I wouldnt buy them if you plan on going with more boost. I bought them at a decent price and I got my Stg3 tuned on friday at EPL. Tony logged an IAT delta of almost 50degrees. Granted that was on a dyno with just airflow from the fans, but still. So I am canning these things and going with the ER side mounts.

    Re: Innovative smic

Good luck with them, hopefully the RS4 ones are better.

At this point, id rather tie mine to my car and drag them down the highway then try and sell them! From day one they have been a pain in my ass. Took me a solid month to get the damn things, the lower mounting tabs dont line up like they are supposed to, and over all they suck as far as performance goes. Shame on me though, I should have listened to the posts about them,

No doubt the IPP RS4 replacements are better than the S4 replacements... I wasnt aware there were two different models when I bought mine.

a couple people on AW did tests and found that temp only slightly dropped. ERs FTW, or ebay FMIC for the cheap (JHM). Don't fuck around w/ IPP or RS4

    Re: Innovative smic

I have s4 IPP replacements and like them alot. IAT delta is better then stock and compares to OEM RS4 without all the hacking and hose replacements. Of course the ER's are better but look at the price, twice as much. When I go GT eventually I'll run ER's but until then I'm happy.

    Re: Innovative smic

I know that the claim to fame for the IPP S4 SMICs are the fact that they are a direct fit with no modifications to the car needed at all. Is the the same for the IPP RS4 SMICs ?

    Re: Innovative smic

From what ive read and seen... No! You have to cut material away just as you would if you installed regular RS4 intercoolers.

    Re: Innovative smic

there are logs that show ipp only dropped ambient delta 3 degrees, thats not worth it imho. go ERs or go home, and ERs are like 1350, not 1500. Like I said, if you need to save money, go custom ebay FMIC, just paint it black or something so it doesn't make the front of your car look like hell!!

^^^ what do you mean 3 degree ambient delta? you mean there are logs showing ipp with iat 3 degrees over ambient?

you have to hack the carrier to fit the ipp rs4 ic

If that's the case, then what is the appeal of the IPP RS4-SMICs over the OEM RS4-SMICs ? Are they better in performance or are they just better priced ?

the rs4 are actually quite larger than the regs and a tad bigger than awe........ i think that the size matters on these coolers...... its like computer heatsinks... bigger is always better...... take it to the bank........

Ok thanks everyones. a just bought a pair of ER smic from avalon they have competitive $s. I figured out that cutting front bumper would weaken too mutch the front end of my car. I don't want to crap the rad and front of engine b/c a stupid guy go backward with his car and smash my front while parking for exemple.
