how do i remove chrome trim under the headlights and trim on trunk?

exactly what the title says. I want to paint it just like i did the chrome trim around my front grille.

ok what kind of paint are you using?
and how are you going to do around the windows?

you need to take either headlights or bumper out, and it should be easy to pop them out, once you see it open you'll get the idea.

the paint i've been using it PlastiDip, which isnt really paint. Kinda a rubber coating.

as far as i know it is hard as hell to get the window trip off. So i'm gonna leave it chrome i guess :[

It's a spray can. You can get it at Loes or Home depot for like 4 bucks

I would not mind removing the trim on the trunk to just have the paint color, all blue.

What about the trim under the front lights???
I was thinking about doing this? I am thinking the pieces might bend or get damaged, wondering if I'd be better off buying new ones and painting those.
Need to do the trim on my lower middle grille to match my blacked out upper one.

As for the trim around the windows, I have been asking but no luck! My shop does not want to mess with it as they think the trim would get damaged upon removal. Wonder if some foreign model A6 came with a black trim and culd be bought on the net???
I would love to black it out, I don't like it and it does not age well.

thanks ass, i've already owned 3 vw's and 2 audi's. The reason i want to black the chrome out is because i want a more sporty look, rather than looking like im driving my grandma's car.

I think the blacked out look is nice, more aggressive sporty look, very european...
It's gotta be done right and all chrome must be done in one area, I.e. front area (upper and lower grilles, headlight trim) Mine is 1/2 way doneand it looks funny :) kinda liek a cop crown vic :)

sooo.. anyone ever find out how to remove that lower silver peice under the headlight... it looks as if one side is a hex on it near the fender... the other side is some screw w/e looking like screw..

any ideas?

Paul, they are riveted on. Pull the headlight and drill out the rivets.

I almost masked mine off and sprayed them when I had my headlights out a couple weekends ago... But instead I decided I'm going to wait, and probably eventually paint them body color.
