    No Signals and/or Hazards

I've done a search but most people seem to lose the turns but not the hazards.

When I turned the key yesterday, there was some click noise, and a red light came on through one of the buttons....I believe it was the hazard button....and the car wouldn't start. I thought it was a burglar alarm glitch where the car was disarmed. I locked the car, unlocked it and all was well, except now I have no turn sigs or hazards.

All fuses are fine. Any ideas?

I just took it apart. Expected to see burn marks or something. Nothing.

The "new" hazard switches have a tighter spring than the originals. Both of the metal spring tabs on each side need to be bent with a pair of pliers before putting the switch back in the dash. If you don't do this, the switch will be very hard to insert into the slot, especially the last 1/4 inch, and you will find the hazard button will not depress.

probably a bad coil which you can't spot. Trust us, just replace it.

    Re: No Signals and/or Hazards

OK, so I got my new flasher today, put it in. Hazard flasher still dead. Turned on the key to see if the blinkers worked. I heard a little "tic" noise. 10 amp fuse blew. This fuse did not blow when the problems started. The fuse was good when I put the flahser in. So I put in a new 10 amp fuse. No Hazard flasher. Turned the key, blew another fuse.

So with a new flasher relay, I have no flashers. If I turn on the ignition, I make some sort of dead short that blows the fuse.

    Any idea?

If your flasher was dead your hazards would still work. I will say like everyone else said replace the hazard switch and go from there.

x2. on all vehicles there are 2 separate flashers. One for the blinkers and the other for the hazards.

That's what I replaced. The whole switch.

NeubsA4, I don't know about any other flasher. Where is it and how would that make my dead short when I turn on the ignition?

    Re: No Signals and/or Hazards

i'll save you time on this. get the turn signal switch (its costly and its the one on your steering column with the light switch) replace that and your hazard relay (its not a switch but a big fuse). i had my signals die completely and hazards still work, got my car back today and it is working better. i would have a someone like a dealer or someone who will cover it if the blow the airbag while replacing it.

The only hazard relay I see is part of the switch. It's built right on to the back of the switch and I don't see what you're talking about (meaning a big fuse) in Bentley or anywhere else.

I had thought of the turn signal switch in the stalk itself as you suggested. If there's a short in that, the current from the ignition would blow the fuse. But then why don't the flashers work with out the key turned?

    Re: No Signals and/or Hazards

check to see if you are getting power to the hazard switch with an electrical voltage tester. Pain in the ass cause you have to do one wire at a time. I'm at work right now, lol otherwise i would be pulling out the chiltons manual. If it isnt the switch then its probably a short. thats the only way that the fuse would blow that i can think of? Usually if it is a flasher your blinkers will blink rapidly instead of not at all.
