    Something tightened too tight?

Got a new fuel filter put in yesterday (brought it to a local indy mechanic vs. DIY) - and the car runs SO MUCH BETTER! Fixed the whining issue, and I can tell you that it's was a noticeable fix.

That being said, as I was pulling out of the garage yesterday evening, I stopped to let my wife in, and she heard a strange "creak" sound from the back wheel. I got out, and had her pull the car forward. Sure enough, I heard the noise as well. Sounded like it was coming from the wheel area - bearing, brakes, suspension? Or something else? Was something tightened too tight when I got the fuel filter in?

Thoughts? I'm not freaking out - but I definitely don't like it.

It can be any of those parts you mentioned, jack the car up and check for any play in the wheels, that you tell you if its the wheel bearing or not..

Are you sure you just didn't wash yer car and the brakes were mildly binded by surface rust on the rears (ala parking brake)?
This happens to me quite often. After a few stop and goes, it's all gone.
Now if it's truly something, I'm sure it would not be related to the fuel filter swap.

    I have 55k.

If you're hearing a whine from the passenger rear wheel area, it's likely the filter needs replacing. You'll know it when you hear it, though - pretty high pitched. Not like anything else I usually hear out of the car!

Wouldn't have been that - as I hadn't washed it that day, and had been out and about anyway. It sounds like a creak when the car was stopping, not going over a bump, not rolling, just when coming to a stop...

The only reason I thought maybe it happened when the filter was replaced, was I didn't know if they had removed the tire to get to the filter when replacing?
