    Two issues need help diagnosing

I have a few problems i need some help diagnosing,
First off, car is stock. 03 A4 1.8t 5spd quattro

Cold start issues: on a cold star, i hear a loud loud screeching noise, for the duration of about a second or less, when the engine starts to turn over. Possibly the starter?

Acceleration issues: Only happens in 1st gear, up to 3k in WOT, then stops. Sounds similar to having a hole in the exhaust, a deep gurgal, coming from the driver side wheel area. Sometimes its audibal in 2nd gear up to 3k at WOT. Possibly a wheel bearing?

After about 2.8-3k, no more sound. As far as driving issues, none whatsoever, just a sound.

    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

If possible I'd get to a local autparts store or use a vag-com and see if you have any codes.

haha def. not the myspacer generation, been in the scene for a while. More into sceamo now. I live over in tacoma, just moved up here. it aint bad, despite the gun fights. Wont have those codes till mondayish, broke my leg last week which sucks ass, awaiting a cast before i can hit up autozone to get the codes pulled.

The loud screeching issue is just on cold starts though, actual driveability of the car hasnt changed at all. Im assuming its the starter since cold starts require the most power.

The odd noise w/ 1st and 2nd gear at WOT has me stummped though

My friends are from t town (University place?), i love it over there. Its nice and the boats are amazing; last time we played the showbox in seattle i got to take a boat to gig harbor with some friends. So nice up there :). Screamo, do you ever listen to the older band from seattle/ Tacoma, Botch? they were amazing :) as is David Pedro the Lion Bazan. We are going to record some stuff with some friends up there on Orcas Island this summer which should prove to be interesting. The san juans are cool beans. Anyway, sorry to hear about your leg :( bummersvill).

Re: Two issues need help diagnosing

Screeching on cold start is either p/s pump slipping (5% chance) or alternator belt slipping (95% chance) Your belt may need replacing, adjustment, or just some good ol' belt dressing.

As for the noise up to 3k... That's tough to diagnose without hearing it, but your guess is the same as mine, a potential exhaust leak, your blow-off (diverter) valve leaking (70% chance based on your description) or maybe a vacuum leak causing a variety of issues including a dv leak. Are you on the stock blow off valve? Have you ever done a boost leak test?
