anyone have a DIY on PS pump replacement?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I think i can figure it out, but i wasn't sure if there was anything tricky or wierd with replacing it. I have no PS... but my fluid level is fine.. and the pump basically screams and whines when i turn the wheel -- no leaks -- therefore i concluded it's the pump.

(if anyone thinks differently - please let me know what, and why.)

but yeah. any help on doing that is much appreciated.

I have an extra pump if you want it. Came off a TT 225HP so just verify its the right pump.

Re: anyone have a DIY on PS pump replacement?

I just snapped some photos for you. Even found a part number you can cross-reference. Looks like 8N0 145 154A

I think its easiest to get at the pump from underneath your car.

Here are some photos of the TT pump on the TT engine. Location is the same on the Longi AMB. Thought you'd like it for reference.

The TT belt lay-out is different (double-sided serpentine) but the accessories are in the same location. I threw the PS pump pulley away because it was bent (this engine was sitting on the ground for awhile before I got it). The pump itself looks okay.

Seeing as I'm not 100% sure of its history how does $40 shipped sound? I'll clean it all up before I ship it. Do you still have my paypal email address? I'm shipping some bicycle parts out on Monday so I can get this out via USPS on Monday if you want.

Re: anyone have a DIY on PS pump replacement?

I highly recommend you go look at your PS pump and compare it to the TT one in my photos. I looked at my A4 today and the A/C compressor and the PS pump look much different than the ones I pulled off the TT 225hp motor.
