I want your opinions on an exhaust i am getting installed today

I have a 2000 2.7 Quattro Sedan. The middle exhuast "suitcase" (resonator) has been removed already and a short strait pipe has been welded in on each side. I am replacing the back mufflers with 14 inch magnaflow mufflers and just putting some nice stainless steel tips on. What do you guys think about this setup? I want to hear the exhaust but I don't want it screaming loud either.

go with 2 and a 1/2 all the way back with a new resinator, if you throw the rear mufflers on then youll be dissapointed, i work at 2 exhaust shops and i was suposed to be able to do w/e i wanted on my car, but i ended up just throwing a borla and some dtm tips on and it sound a little ricy, not bad tho at idle is sounds like a quiet srt/4 lol just do it right the first time and get the whole thing done and youll be very happy.

im working out something right now so i can do what i wanted the first time, but i cant complain i mean i didnt pay anythin and its on there lol

So your saying I will have a raspy sound? Bc, that is the last thing I want and trying to avoid. I'm waiting at the muffler shop and thinking about getting up and leaving before they start on my car.

Yeah so I'm also looking for new exhaust, I'm getting hollowed out downpipes and then 2.5 cat back (no resinators) then rs6-ish oval tips. Should I buy new mufflers or will the stock ones sound just fine with the open downpies and no resinators?

get some mangaflow mufflers they have a deep sound you will like it.

Go for it. Worst case, you can always have a pair of aftermarket straight thru design resonators installed after the fact. I had they exhaust shop install 2.5" straight pipe all the way back from the main cats, then a pair of magnaflow mufflers installed. It sounds perfect. Not too loud, but definitely not stock. Of course, everyone has different tastes.

Besides.....its only fair that you give that Civic Si a little warning before you smoke him down the strip. Its not like he knows what you have under the hood.

So, Milltek Exhaust package would be no good?

They have two kinds, complete with hi-flow cat ($1999), and then there's just the catback package ($1499).

Saw this on the Stratmosphere website, authorized distributor for Milltek in NA.

Anyone have experience with those?

Only experience I have is the Youtube videos I saw, and they sound pretty sweet.

I had Milltek on my B5S4 and it sounded really sweet. I considered that for the A6 but then I looked under the car. The S4 exhaust is fairly complex as far as tight fitment and number of bends. The A6 on the other hand is very simple ( 2 ~45 degree bends per side), and lots of room. It just kills me that they want $1500 for an exhaust when you can have one custom made AND chose whatever mufflers you want for about $500. Thats just my opinion.

I found this on youtube. I have no idea who the guy is but i fell in love with his exhaust setup.

Also, I have a 2001 Allroad tip with k04's.
we gutted the precats after the k03's imploded and leaked oil through the exhaust. I then spaced the 02 sensors, and removed the the factory mufflers and replaced them with straights. I think it has the perfect sound. louder than stock at idle, and just perfect when planted. It's a lot deeper than the factory note. The whole setup cost under $200 and it picked me up about 40 hp.

when I was looking into getting ours done, haven't yet, two different shops advised against removing the resonators, they were going to do a cat back, with magnaflows but leaving the resonantors in place.
