well on my way to work this morning my car dies for no reason so i get out after numerous tries of restarting and still nothing so i unplug the maf and it fires right up but misfires at 3k. So today i picked up a another maf and put it in and it started right up but as soon as i hit the gas it died. What would cause that to happen? could it be another maf dead?

Yeah change your plugs! Its unlikely that the new MAF is dead already.

Re: replaced the mass air flow and still problems

i have seen this caused by a bad fuel pump. It would only make 1 bar of pressure. With the mafs unplugged in a limp mode it would run but as soon as you plugged it in and tried to take off it fell flat on it's face.
However it more likely is a giant boost leak. IC hose blown off etc.

When that happened to me my pcv valve had cracked and i hadnt noticed until i went to change my injectors...
(which caused a major boost leak)

i had a problem like that, try checking all of the wires that are plugged in the MAF. Make sure there are no cracks . and pull on the wires a little bit to make sure they dont just seperate easily.

Check for boost leaks mentioned above. I came across a friend and his car would start and Idle... but as soon as he tried to take off it died. Turned out to have a hose come off before the inner cooler.
