    Noob on chipping

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have did some searching on A4 chipping on this forum. But I am such a newbie, that I don't understand most of the thing.

I have a 2008 A4 2.0 quattro in Norcal. I am looking to chip my car, but I have bought extended warranties, so I don't have to void them. I know a Audi dealer do stasis chip and will warrant the warranties. But I also read here someone said that the Stasis chip gives you very little benefit. I also see people saying getting a chip with stock program, but how would that help, if the reflash your ECU?

    Any explanation is welcome.

    Thank you in advance.

If you chip your car at a chip dealer they should be able to reflash your ecu for you if the dealer ever flashes your chip. You should really ask first tho. Also the 3 main brands of Chips you could get would be APR, Giac-x, and Revo.

if your dealership flashes your ecu, you have to go back to the place where you got chipped and have your reflashed again. (most places do it for free again)

Check out APR GIAC and Revo. In Norcal you can go to Streetwerke's in PA for the APR Chip. There you can get a 91 and Stock setting. Before you see the dealer for service, just set back to stock and they can't tell (or so I am told). This the set up that I got back in Feb.

I think the stasis chip is beneficial just not as agressive as the others, and thats probably why they can offer the warranty.

Chipping your car is a risk and has the potential to void your warranty. There are work arounds to keep the dealer from not knowing you are chipped (run stock mode for a while to clear any logs before service) but its still a risk. And as mentioned if the car is reflashed by the dealer you will need to visit your chip dealer for a reflash of the performance software.
