Just wondering if the B7's sold in asia are capable of displaying fonts from other languages on the stock headunit??? Seems weird that it would only support English if I'm buyin my car, in say, China...

Are there any ppl with B7's here that live in asia that can confirm?

Audis in China are made in China (unless you want one imported from Germany or the U.S.), so I don't see why/how the info display is not in Chinese

Didn't know that.. but I was just using China as an example... Audi's are sold in a lot of asian countries but are built in Germany. I highly doubt that Audi would only provide support for English file names in a car that they sell in a country that doesn't use the English alphabet...

Made in China Audi's have Chinese display. Confirmed. Our AUdis can display French/Dutch etc. I've heard people modified their ECU in Chinese dealer to make the headunit display some Chinese song titles . lol

Maybe they should send some of those cars over here to the states like everything else so we don't have to pay so much for it.

Yes, Audis in China are made domestically in China and yes they can display the Asian languages. Engine parts are still sourced from Germany but all the assembling takes place in China. This does not drive down the price of an Audi in China's market, however. Cars in Asia generally cost around 100-120% more than their counterparts in the US (even after the currency exchange).

    Re: Audi's sold in Asia..

The parts are actually sourced from everywhere and I am pretty sure our engines are produced in Hungary. The different areas of the world usually use different software and firmware for their headunits. You can go to navplus.us and see if there is anything about the asian firmware and software, but all I have ever seen was for the European firmware and software. Also, not all cars are made domestically in each country in Asia. The Korean version may be pretty hard to find since my friend just set the company up there a couple years ago. He is now the head guy there.

I'd die if if my car had a "Made in China" label...

I've read about this on NavPlus, and if I remember correctly, Asian Audis have completely different stereo headunits than we do.
