    Going Big Turbo Today

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just thought I would post the install of my turbo kit today. I'll let everyone know how it goes and what my first impressions of it are when its done. The kit I'm throwing in is: the Gt71r with the ATP Swaintech Exhaust Mani, a custom FMIC, Neuspeed TIP, Genesis 430 cc, Evoms DV, and Eurocode Test Pipe.

Congrats on the new setup but why are you going with a custom MAF that is smaller than stock?

    hmmm hairdryer vs gt71r
boost levels and powerband are ever so slightly different

    Re: Going Big Turbo Today

nah, I'm not chipped. I have my test pipe, DV, exhaust, and boost gauge in right now. So its going to be a pretty big transition. And Clint, I have $650 that i was gonna use for the install but I'm just using that for the software and I'll owe my parents the rest. I'm working so it shouldn't take too long.

    Re: Going Big Turbo Today

Getting into boost won't hurt anything, you're not moving enough air to cause any damage, but still get the flash ASAP and give it a few hours of driving before you really go out and pound on it. It needs some time to adapt.

    Re: Going Big Turbo Today

I seriously doubt you will hurt anything. I drove around for months on a GT30 hybrid and Giac FX file without issue. People told me not to, but I did and even took it to the track once. Just get it ASAP don't try to run just a boost controller on it or you WILL BLOW THE MOTOR.

You will be fine if it is connected to the N75 properly. Hopefullly you have a boost gauge, keep it under 15 psi.

100% off the shelf Eurocode/ATP 71R Eliminaor on a stock block.

    REVO Programming
    Bosch 440CC
    Bosch FR5-DTC spark plugs
    Neuspeed TIP
    Turbosmart eBoost EBC
    K&N in the stock airbox
    ATP manifold
    Eurocode test pipe

The only real tweaks to the setup are that I gasket matched the head/exhaust manifold/turbo, cleaned up the inside of the exhaust manifold (casting spurs) and have the injectors flow matched/balanced. I run it at 22psi

Been on this setup for well over 2 years and have never had an issue, runs high 12s regularly

Nope, not a one. On a day to day basis I run T5 on pump gas, once it get to around 90-100 degress Tracee drops it to T4.

If I run race gas then i switch it to T9 and call it a day (could prabably add a few degrees with lemmiwinks but I am happy with the performance as it is. Have not used lemmi on the timing since I ran the full kit. The file that I have is a little more agressive than my old full GT28RS file and needs no lemmi advances to the timing

I have a Joe P MBC and it's a great unit. But sometimes it'll let the boost flucuate by as much as 5 psi. I think it might be where I have it mounted. It sits right next to the turbo bolted to the valve cover. I believe that once the spring inside it heats up it softens a bit.

If you want the best boost controller *PERIOD* buy a World Electronics TBC-1 or a PBC-1 http://www.world-motorsports.com/wms...=index&cPath=1

I run the Turbosmart eBoost and it is the most user friendly (instructions in Queen's English), has a extremely accurate digital boost gauge and matches the Audi interior nicely. You can mount it in the Podi too.
