    Terrible start to my day......

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I bought some Hitachi E coils and ngk plats and was gonna put them in just now. I start off by breaking the brittle ass clips off 2 of 4 coilpack connectors. Oh, it then gets even better........all of my coilpacks are swimming in oil. I assume it is my vcg so I just ordered the kit from blauparts. I was so pissed I just plugged the coilpacks back in. Started it up and ran perfect. My question is will it be ok to drive the car until I change the valve cover gasket?

yeah, those clips are so brittle. I have never had a coilpack go bad *knock on wood....so therefore never changed a coilpack. Just changing them for preventative maintenance. All I suceeded in doing so far is finding more shit that needs to be fixed.

Question for ya brother, I have some oil around my coil pack, but I'm not sure if it's from me spilling oil from an oil change or not. It isn't in the spark plug well it's in the little crevice about the coil pack. Is that a valve leaking?

If there is oil around your plugs, I would not drive (or start) the car until the valve cover gasket is replaced and the oil is cleaned out. You can pull the plugs and let the oil drain down on the pistons, it will immediately burn off on start up. Oil around the plug can (and will) short the coil packs out very quickly

If your valve cover gasket is leaking you will have oil on the actual plugs, or of course leaking down the side of the head/block if its the external part of the gasket. Outer leakage typically occurs in the back left hand corner and around the cam adjuster
