German V8 vehicles eat the same if not more than American V8's. Take a look at the S5, 4.2L 354hp, 14/21mpg, compared to say a Mustang, 4.6L 300hp, 15/23mpg. And the S5 has tons more technology like 5V heads, FSI, DOHC, and its almost a half a liter smaller which by itself
should make it more efficient than a larger motor.
Or you can look at say a C6 Z06, Shelby GT500, and an R8. The GT500 with a 1.2L and 80hp advantage on the R8 gets the same on the highway, but better city mileage in what I'm sure is a much heavier car. And its gets even worse comparing it to the Z06, with a 2.8L and 85hp advantage, gets 6mpg more on the highway, and 3 more in the city.
And it still uses PUSHRODS!!!
And the V6 engines that German vehicles have aren't anything to write home about, American vehicles aren't as bad as they used to be.

Has Audi achieved 100hp/liter? As far as I know, they only have 1 engine that does in N/A form, and in every car its in, its hit with a gas guzzler tax. Yet larger, more powerful, but less efficient engines are getting better MPG? Whats the big advantage with the magical 100hp/liter mark?
Squat...
Note: I am obviously
NOT a brand loyal nazi, and can appreciate cars from all manufacturers,
but, I think VERY highly of Audi(and every other German automaker) but I don't think they are God's gift to man.
