Wow great run! Your 60' time made all the difference!!

I always feel like my car is slow when driving normally (I usually start accelerating around 3K RPM when rolling <not launching>instead of 5K which is probably the reason)....guess I'm just used to the power now....of course your video dispels that thought!!!

i want to run you. I should run a 13.60-13.70 in my A4. My dad wants to run his RS4 the first time we went to E town with the RS4 it was the 3rd day he had it and he was shifting a little before redline and didn't drop the clutch on the launch. Hoping for a 12.6@110. Really Good Run thats one fast S4. How did you launch the sucker??

How can a Tiptronic A4 without a BT upgrade run a 13.6 - 13.7? I'd think the torque converter would be a big hindrance in breaking into the 13's. What is your AWHP and AWTQ?

probably not mine, but we'll see after a few more mods and once I trust the tuning enough to run it

with a TIP? i say, 14.2 is the highest you'll get. If you were a manual, maybe a 13.8. You cant launch Tips, it's very hard.

Re: Took it to the track today...

thanks everyone. as for launching the car, i would take it up to 4500 and slip the clutch while giving full gas off the line. you know you are doing it right when you feel your car squat and shoot forward. as you continue, your rpms should not drop but stay right around 5500 or so where the powerband of these cars begins. that sets the basis for the rest of the run.

remind you that was only my third run ever on a track with this car. so a 13.3 is pretty good with alot of room for improvement. i would like to be more aggressive with the launch and get my 60 foot even further down. next time i go i would like to have alot of weight reduction and more power mods and see if i can hit a low 13 maybe possibly hit 12s

I love it. Didn't really expect much when I got the car flashed since I kept hearing that it does nothing but oh was everyone wrong. The ride home was the most fun since I had first purchased the car. There was more power throughout the rev range and the car felt so much smoother. The power gain wasn't like it would be from a turbo car, but u felt it

what would have been interesting to see is what you were running before the 2 mods. 13.5 maybe or 13.4? i don't think these mods would bring a 13.7 car down to 13.2.

Not dumping but letting off in one fast motion while giving full throttle

Launching an AWD car is VERY hard and some people never get it. It's obvious the original poster got it. Just don't be upset if your car blows up if you get it wrong! Remember.. pay to play. :)

I was just saing what I thought audi advertises. I don't know exactly what these cars run stock. Some cars I have noticed are quicker than others.

This is true.you have to sacrifice some of your clutch's life in order to get a proper launch. Luckily I have had plenty of practice with me C4 S4 (RIP). That thing was stout so it took the beating while I learned the art of AWD launching

yeah some people run 13.7....some people run 14.0....or worse. so part of it is an art of driving it. assuming you drive it like you did now...i wonder what the difference would be? there are just so many different factors, humidity, elevation, temp, etc, etc.

but i think what happens here is people take the paper number from motor trend or car and driver....and then they see your post...your mods and think...hey if i do those 2 things....i'll run 13.2s too. not every obviously thinks that...but thats how i see it on the boards.

my guess is your car runs about a 13.4-13.5 given some conditions bone stock. all i know is those 2 bolts won't decrease your time .5 seconds. but maybe a 10th. thats feasible in my eyes.

10th increase after ECU flash, cat-backs, & snub? I'd like to think at least a 20th increase would be feasible.

I did buy the race file w/ the GIAC install and just ordered 5 gallons of unleaded 104 race gas from www.racegas.com Definitely trying same launch technique.

My goal? The announcer says S4!

most definitely drive mod is required for decent times...and your car runs strong and you drove it well

You dont if you do it the right way and slipping the clutch is not the right way. Slipping the clutch is usually just done to control rpms or wheel spin, doing it this way just heats up the clutch.

Best way is to just set the clutch at the friction point, go WOT and release the clutch all at one time. I have a hand full of 1.5's in my B5 A4 1.8t to prove it works.

vids of me doing it on a nice warm day
