Question need pads for track day

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi everybody

I have the BBK from ECS (stage 4) and i need pads for track use. They sales Hawks but many person tell me that those pad are too much agressive (excuse my englich, my first language is french). I am not racing my car but it's will be very hard day. I will be at the Mont-Tremblant circuit (was a formula one circuit in the 70'). I will made 6 session of 30 minutes. Last year i made the same day with my stock pads but it was rainning. It was the most exceptional day track ever (i was very worry about the rain). But I was by far the less powerful car of the gang. And the only one with 4 wheel drive. The others cars was Ford GT, Viper, GT3, Lotus Elise... and i pass them all the day. But this year i dont want to take a chance. One friends who drove a M3 E46 tell me good words for Performance Friction.

Re: need pads for track day

You already should have Hawks. ECS BBK's usually come with Hawk HPS pads which should be just fine for your track day. If your really worried you can upgrade to the Hawk HP Plus pads. They will be noisier and harder on your rotors but are still fine for the street and will improve your stopping slightly as 100% traction is obtained at threshold braking. (less initial bite than HPS but greater threshold bite).

+1 for Hawk HPS. Personally I've never used them but many friends of mine have. It's one of the most common/popular pad compounds for the occasional track, auto-cross, and daily driving. The only "drawbacks" are more dust, minor noise.

There was a problem whit the transport and they lost the pad. I run with stock Cayenne pads. For the daily use it's just correct. It's seem that everybody are Hawks fan. You have a idee for the rear brake?

If you have plenty of meat left on the stock rear pads, they will be fine. I ran the stock pads for almost 2 seasons (10 track days) before they were toast. I was recommended by Stasis to run Carbotech bobcats on the rears with my new larger rear rotors. I will be testing the bobcats at Laguna Seca on monday.

Thanks for the advice for the rear brake. Where you find your race belt? and are you satisfied? Your track wheel is it 18 inch? I run BBS CH 17inch with my brake for the winter and planning to try the OZ ultra... at 16.7 lbs. But i dont know if they will clear my brake. With the BBS i got only 2 credit card space. There more choice for track tire in the 17 inch and at less price. My Street wheel are the Neuspeed 19inch.

I purchased my 4 point harnesses from soloracer.com. If you already have 17" wheels that fit your brakes, I would just buy a set of 17" track tires, and in the summer time swap out the winter tires for track tires. Mounting and balancing tires is usually only $100.

Your car is automatic and you track it! How your transmission handle whit that stress. I just eard that transmission is fragile. My audi mecanical tell me to not modified a A4 with automatic transmision. But maybe he's completely in the field. Tell me more... Because i'm looking for a A4 2.0T cabriolet and this model is only availeble whit the automatic transmission and i'd like to put on it the new S3 kit.

Tip has always been up to the task. Shifts are just delayed a little you have to adjust your timing.

HP Plus ate my rotors and squeaked like a banshee. HPS is better all-around.

Hp Plus are the best. They bit very hard almost as good as a Big Brake kit. If you want some thing less intense go for the HPS. Thats my two cents!
