    3.0 owners---need help

I just picked up an avant 3.0 tiptronic......when i am stopped and press the gas to accelerate--not to the floor--just to drive normally, the car kind of sits there and then goes....Its like theres a bit of a hesitation......Best way to describe it is like there is a rope with a bunch of slack in it, and then you start to pull on it gradually taking the slack out until there is none left....i have always had 12v vr6s and never had any sort of issue like this....is this normal for this small hesitation? or is something wrong?

    Thanks
    David

    Re: 3.0 owners---need help

Have you ever owned a drive-by-wire before? The VR6 was cable right?

DBW has a lag on some that is...., um...., noticeable.

My 02 3.0 isn't bad at all, but my 02 GTI was the pits from the factory. APR chip fixed that, along with a bunch of other stuff.

That's how it is. A chip will help, but that's like $300

I have the same setup with a GIAC flash, it hesitates from a slow roll sometimes, I think it's just the transmission...

    Re: 3.0 owners---need help

chips for a 3.0 TIP are a varied opinion.

Throttle response is mentioned as a plus, but not sure if they have been referring to off the line response or rolling. Coming from a VR6 background, you already know preformance gains are minimal at best, and TIP Chips specifically mostly don't do much, tho, I did read here within the last few days somebody posted about a TIP chip company that actually custom fine tunes line pressure and shift points. That would be interesting to hear more about...

My APR tuned GTI was a 1.8. Chipping a 1.8 is like buying a new car for $500.

For you, and your Avant still being new to you, I'd get or find somebody local who has VAGCom & pull codes first, find out what's what.

How many miles on it again? 15,000 to 115,000 makes a big difference on what to suspect...

Same issue with my 3.0 tip as well I was starting to think that there was a problem. However I'm leaning based on what people are saying that its normal.

its very normal. called automatic trans and throttle by wire. there is a slight delay since our cars are huge computers so its not an immediate response
