How many motor mounts are there?

My car "lurches" or "clunks" when I left off the gas and in between shifts in lower gears so some sort of motor mount is shot. I'm about to buy the Apikol snub mount, but are there more that could also be shot? How many do I need?

Snub mount isn't the motor mounts.

a snub mount will fix that problem......there are several to choose from, but sounds like you have one of the most popular chosen already!

its one of the cheapest, yet most worthwhile mods you can do!

Correct. From what I understand the snub mount will take up the drivetrain slack, and the lurch or clunk you refer to should be less. I myself have a snub, and still experience that feeling. I have no idea what else to change to be honest.

Motor and trans mounts maybe? Not quite sure. Maybe someone else can answer that.

A new snub should fix your problem. In addition to the snub there are also 2 motor mounts and 1 tranny mount.

Thank you . So basically, if it isn't the snub mount its probably the motor or tranny mount(s). I'll try the snub mount first then...and theres just one snub mount then?

Just one snub. Instructions can found here. Really easy to replace on a 1.8T.

You can check your motor mounts while you are under the car too see if they are leaking. They are fluid-filled.

yah i switched out my snub mount got extra vibration and i still ahve a slight clunk.

when i did my timing belt/water pump service, i noticed my motor mounts were leaking as well.

anybody recommend any that are like stock? perhaps will rs4 motor mounts work? btw, i dont want full out solid ones
