New Car Owners, oil change question?

This is kind of a follow up to my very famous, and shortly lived, "Oil Additive" thread.

To all audi owners who purchased their cars new, when did you do your first oil change?

I plan on doing my first oil change at the 5,000mile scheduled service point.....if I ever get there. I bought the car brand new on November 17th but it still has only 1,250 miles on it. I may just have to do an oil change before then......

Re: New Car Owners, oil change question?

I did mine at 5000. I was planning on doing one at 2500 to get the sludge out of there. The only thing was, I was racking up miles like crazy, going to the mountains every week or two.

My oil was low once so I put one quart of that Lubro-Moly stuff in there at 1100 miles. Oil levels were never low after that.

I brought 10 quarts of Lubro-Moly to the dealer and they used that instead of whatever they use.

I plan to do the in between oil changes (every 5K miles). Like in between the 10,000 and the 20,000. I spoke with Jose over at Eurotech and that guy is very knowledgeable about Audi. He told me that with Lubro-Moly, I could go 7,500 miles without an oil change. He said it's real good stuff. I, however, will play it safe. I will get all the oil changes at the dealer specified times, and go to Jose for the in between.

From the way he was talking about the stuff, Ed, I'd say pick up some Lubro-Moly, give that engine some good juice! Your car deserves the best...Chevron, Lubro, MTM, HRE, STaSIS, no car washes, no valet...

    VR2V8...drive that car man!

I use Motul 5-40. Channa, you probably didn't do this but if you ever take your car to the dealer for scheduled free oil changes, which i think that they have done away, and bring them your own oil, make sure to get the oil that they were originally going to put into your car.

Just have them toss 10 quarts of that Castrol into your trunk.

Wise. You can punt that oil to your buddy with the [insert generic Japanese model of choice].
