Opinions on Eurotuners BT article (this month issue)

I was just curious to hear some opinions on the BT set up that put out 416whp. I know its FWD, but thats still a ton of power. I was thinking of doing a similiar set up, and I know there's a few guys on here running BAT's....so what does every body think?

I was also curious to find out how different cams would effect this, and if maybe a different A/R and higher revs would change anything...

They did a BAT on a Jetta 1.8T with a built engine and got 416 whp. I haven't read it yet since there are so many differences between that engine and mine and i don't believe i could ever reasonably do that to my car...

Re: Opinions on Eurotuners BT article (this month issue)

eurotuner doesnt often display anything groundbreaking that doesnt have $8k in stereo and carbon fiber upgrades already integrated...so dont take the turbo setup as being groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination...it just happens to make nice power on a car with some nice blingy upgrades. when i look for grounbreaking modification info...ET is typically the last place i look.

regardless, with a longitudinal motor in your car there are a whole different set of modding issues to contend with vs. a FWD car.

Re: Opinions on Eurotuners BT article (this month issue)

Thats basically my setup including the internals except with a 76R rather than a 71R, that article actually gave me a better understand of my setup and what it will do. I think it did 280whp or something on 20psi. I did 264whp on 18psi which I dont think is too far off, especially for my software compared to that car running the Uni 660 tune

Re: Opinions on Eurotuners BT article (this month issue)

That doesn't sound to promising. If you put that turbo on a Honda motor it would put out 600whp. I hate our 20 valve heads! 16 valves FTW.

I would be happy with 416 wheel on 28psi, they were only reving just over 7k I believe, not even enough to make the 76R worthwhile

You have (or going to have) quite a few advantages over me with the 2.0, larger A/R, 3" exhaust, built head, and cams. I sure's the hell would be shooting for WAY more than 400 wheel if I were you. You should be in the 500+ range on race gas. I wouldnt be proud of 400 wheel with your setup

Was the Jetta a 1.8 block or a 2.0 block? The 2.0 block is a different animal altogether.

WTF? I paid for a subscription and have only received one copy of ET in the past three months. God damn waste of $8 on my behalf....

It was a 1.8 block with IE rods. Let me know if you want me to scan the article and email it to you.

420whp at 28psi and race gas....not impressive. I think 400whp on straight pump is much cooler.

those numbers are just about right on a transverse 1.8t.

that's what I was thinking. I was under the impression that the GT3076R would offer way more for higher rev's, like 8k+ rpm's.
