exhaust questions???

I am looking at getting an exhaust for my s4 and i have been told to get a custom system made at an exhaust shop. Has anyone had one made and how much did it cost? i have a budget and if i did get the custom one made what kind of muffler should be used? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks everyone

Custom is cool but consider the off the shelf kits have some R&D behind them. You can have more confidence in the flow characteristics and exhaust note. I've heard that the magnaflow mufflers are good though for the custom setups.

I have the magnaflow w/ a custom full 3", w/ one resonator to keep it down a bit but when its wide open still quite loud. Labor and materials looking at least 1k maybe a bit more.

well i can get a vibrant or APR setup for less than 700 or so, so if i went custom i would want to spend less than that.

I have the Vibrant 3" stainless system was only like $575 I think really cheap but great quality and sound. If you get this exhaust you will love the sounds its perfect for these cars and a nice performance gain.

I had a custom exhaust on my WRX. I spent about $750. It worked, but really wasn't that great. They didn't do the best welds and the design wasn't the greatest. Unless you pay a shop who really knows what they are doing it's not worth it. And if you do that it will cost you just as much as buying an exhaust.

I would go with the Vibrant exhaust. I have it on my car and it is a quality system. Chances are you would end up spending upwards of 600 on a custom cat-back depending on the muffler you choose.

bah it's just bent pipe... get a shop to fab you up a 3.5" and you will be fine.

i just bought an awe twin 1 cat back

i think they sound the best next to a fast intentions custom exhaust

unless you get a really good deal on a custom one its not worth it when you can have those great exhausts
