I wanted that one too but all I can find is the Thule Atlantis 1800 (closest replacement).

Did you check RacknRoad? i know for sure the location in the Bay area I went to had at least 1 more in a box and then their dislplay for sale. I actually thought that the spirit was the newer design (?)

Also, there is sporting goods shop in SF that has them, but they are full price.

It's available at REI as well, albeit at full price. Since you're in OC, you can have them ship to a store for free (there's one in Huntington Beach), which is an advantage over other online stores which charge significantly for shipping. If you can wait, REI has sales every few months. One just took place over 4th of July, the next is around Labor Day.

I have a question for you guys. I currently have Yakima 48" cross bars (round). Now from what I've seen Thule cross bars are square. If I bought an Atlantis 1600 would it be able to mount on my round Yakima cross bars?

No need for Thule bars. I have Yakima bars and a Thule Ascent 1600. Mounts no problem, the clamps can grab round or square bars. The Thule box was a better size for the Avant.

Ok thanks....I'm pretty much sold on the Atlantis 1600, but cant seem to find it in the "carbon fiber" look....any suggestions????

^ being in NJ, i'm not sure you care much about skiing, but I'm torn between the 1600 and 1800 Thule Atlantis models. I have longer skis, so the 1800 would work best, but I think it may be a bit too big for my liking. I think the 1600 fits best for the Audi.

vinyl wrap the box. i was thinking of doing that to my 1600. I know the 1600 fits my snowboards - a 164cm and a 168cm, plus lots of extra room too

Love the inno box. Which one is it, the Ridge Wide? I looked at the Lowdown Cruiser for a while before getting my Yakima box.

How was the mounting? I hear it's old-school u-bolts and such?

Thule boxes with the quick connects
there is a recall on the plastic part that goes under box. plastic is too thin and thule will send you new ones. the four w shaped plastic peices.
My good friend broke his and went to get new ones and the shop he went to called THULE and they sent him new ones as part of a recal on that item.
Just looking out for my fellow thule box owners

No.

A friend gave me the newer style thule clamps that use a u-bar with a push down style lock on the inside. I drilled holes in my yakima metal plates and box to retrofit this mounting system.

Sorry Doug, I quoted the wrong post. I was asking kneel about the clamp type - Thule has had 3-4 different style cargo box clamp setups over the years, and I was wondering what type the recall is referring to - I assume it's the newest style.

Guess I should just sit tight and wait for a pic. Looked on Thule's site and didn't see anything on the "recall".

i ride in the city too much to not have a brake; so many situations where cars pull out, dont signal, etc. or even if you are going down a hill at a decent pace and then light turns yellow.

i dont want to start an arguement over this, but for me it makes sense to have a brake. if you dont want to run one, no one is forcing you to, but dont come crying when you cant stop fast enough and get hit.

Oh, my, God. This is my dream set-up car. Only thing I would change, is slap a Downhill bike on that Thule Side-Arm. This car/accessories is mint!
