Are there any boxes that are narrow enough to have a bike tray on each side and the box in the middle.

Mine fits. I have the box on the passenger side and can fit two bikes on the driver side with cut-down bars. Since mine is very old and 21cuft (29er wheel fits flat in the box) I'm sure you can find something that fits.

I have a Thule Ascent 1600 and I LOVE IT. I can fit an incredible amount of stuff in it, makes no noise, and doesn't overhang the front windshield at all and doesn't get in the way of the hatch opening up. I bought an extra set of 60" rack rails so that I can mount my bikes on either side of the box, outside of the carriers.

I lose about 6 MPG Highway with the box on, and a full load. Not too bad.

How does this box fit on your car? Buying one this week, just wondring if the 2100 is too big. Was thinking of going with the 1800. I can't decide.

The box fits good. The only problem I have is when the rear hatch is opened, the window contacts the bottom of the box. I usually carry a rag/old t-shirt with me and stick it between the box and window so it's not really a problem.

The difference between the 1800 (91.3" x 31") and 2100 (92" x 36") is 0.7" in length and 5" in width. If the price is not too much more I would get the 2100 for the extra cargo space.

I have the Yakima 1600 from REI. Zero issues with the hatch. Fits 4+ snowboards, sets of fat skis, both my wakeboards & my thrasher surf board. This thing rocks!

anyone else find it disturbing that all but one of the cars are white in that neighborhood, and even that one truck that isn't white is silver so it's pretty close to having no color at all on that block, I wonder if it's to make their grass look greener LOL!

I fit two Burton Wheelie Lockers stuffed with boards, gear and boots. Duffel bag and misc items. Also have used it like a truck bed..transporting tower speakers, atv tires you name it.

Just bought a Skybox 12. I think the Skybox Pro is prettier, and would look great with the grey paint on my car......but $100 savings meant going a few stores down the road and buy a new pair of snowboard boots

i just ordered the OEM/Thule base bar set and Thule Ascent 602 (1100) last night. based on the dimensions, i should be able to fit 4 snowboards in it plus some gear since its almost 2 ft longer than the boards. my only concern is that the hatch might hit the box. the box is 88" long so mounting position will be key. but its a good, quality, affordable set up thats fairly versatile and wont hit the fuel economy too hard.

I just picked this up (used). It is a Packasport System 60 LP (Low Profile)
Here is the Skinny:
Only 9" tall so it looks sleek and will not kill mileage
Smooth Gloss finish reduces drag and will be easy to wax/buff
White color (even though I like the black better) WIll stay cool in the summer.
Has a barrrel lock, stainless steel hardware, gas lifters.
Constructed of fiberglass so it is much more sturdy and rigid than other boxes
Opens from the back so it is accessible from both sides and the back at the same time when open.
Wide enough to haul a lot of gear
Narrow enough to still fit on a bike rack or possibly even a kayak rack.
Does not hit the rear lid or antenna

Bummer side is that you cant put tall things in there (case of beer cans yes...case of beer bottles no). But the trade off is better looks and fuel economy.
Also It is expensive ($700 new $1000 if you have it painted to match your Avant) but you can find them used for a good price.

I also like the Inno LowDown but they are hard to find.

Yeah it is pretty low. For camping I will still have to put the cooler in the car, but the tent, stove, clothes, chairs, folding table, kids, fire wood and misc. gear should still fit up in the box.

MY KIDS!!.............no sometimes i wish but i use my mostly for all of my work clothes. I work out side, and do heavy construction. All that dirty, greasy, shit just goes up there ontop of the snowboard. I carry that with me at all times. Never know when i might get out early and able get a few runs in.

i use it for golf clubs, and you can fit 4 snowboards and all the wet gear after the session in there. 4 peoples boots, jackets, pants, etc.... and i fit three small folding chairs as well this last trip.

Just got a rack today, yakima double crosses $65 off craigslist and made my own crossbars, galvanized 3/4 inch piping from home depot...also added a sporty looking cb radio antenna.

Thule website recommends 47" aero bars for my 2008 B7 A4 Avant - that's what I have installed.

Does anyone run a box with 2 bike trays on the outside of the mounting feet?

I have an avant and was wondering if a Thule Ascent 1600 would fit with a bike tray on each side? I know there is space for the tray on the outside, but not sure of the pedals will clear the box? Pretty sure the Atlantis 1600 would not work since it is 36" wide vs. 33" for the Ascent.

Yeah I know I am a geek. Not sure how I like the rings on the front but the guy I got them from threw it in for free so I figured WTF? I also might get rid of the rest of the packasport logo (the box on top of "Audi Sport")
