    s/s brake lines (firmer feel?)

Don't really care about more stopping power, I just want a firmer feel. Is this what I should do or get pads that bite quicker?

Re: s/s brake lines (firmer feel?)

The pedal will be firmer as the the brakes heat up. Inital pedal feel when you first touch the brakes won't be much different but they will be more fade resistant as the fluid (and lines) start to heat up. The stock lines will "bulge" from the heat and pressure which is partially what gives you the mushy pedal. Obviously SS lines can't bulge giving you slightly better and more responsive pedal feel

How difficult would a change of (front only) rotors, brake lines, and pads? Mine are all rusted and worn....would this also help the pedal feel and stopping power??

Not too difficult at all. I had some help from Clint but we did all rotors, lines and pads. The "difficult" part was retracting the rear caliper piston - which went away once we had the right tool. There are at least a couple DIYs out there and it's pretty straight forward once you see it in front of you. Use antisqueal! Bring a friend to do the pedal method for bleeding the brakes.

I went with SS lines, Hawk HPS and plain Zimms all around. Outside of a bit of adjustment (3x) on the pad "prongs", it all worked out fine for me. My opinion is skewed since I had akebonos on the front when I got it and stock potato chips in the rear. What I will say is it was all worth it simply to see much less dust!

12/23/09 - My car has been phenomenal to me. Runs strong. Don't think I'm ever going to sell it. Rather throw $7k into it for a refresh than buy a new A4 that has no dipstick.
    12/5/10 - 100k miles & counting!
    9/22/13 - 146k+ & running strong w/a new TB, water pump, etc.

Re: s/s brake lines (firmer feel?)

Definitely a worthwhile investment. I've had them on my last 4 or 5 cars. Even compared to brand new rubber lines, it's a night/day difference... SS for teh win!!

Re: s/s brake lines (firmer feel?)

I've got 65k on my car and never changed the front brake pads. I just changed my rears. That's some long life to me. I want to do the same thing to my motorcycle on the fronts, but if I do my car I'm doing it all, only $120 or so.

Re: s/s brake lines (firmer feel?)

im not sure, but its a 2 year fluid whereas RBF is yearly.., RBF has a higher boiling point but im not tracking it so i dont want to be flushing it yearly.. 5.1 is a much better fluid than OEM and has a much higher BP than OEM as well so its a good in between of track/crappy OEM
