Im only holding about 17 pounds of boost....I was holding 16 on Stage 1....

Every search result I have come across has given me good results. You just need to get the proper piping.

i highly recommend making one if you dont - mine cost me about 8 bucks to make with crap from lowes. (already had the glue) there's a writeup on a4mods

ebay will be fine. something lots of people don't realize is that if you're not going for an absolutely balls out setup like shawn, mike, winston, etc. is that you don't have to drop serious money on an intercooler...

it's like exhaust -- when you get down to it... the only thing that matters is getting good pipes/bends, and making sure you install correctly. (a good core is easy to come by VERY cheap if you look.. even name brand)

i spent a day just measuring, re-measuring, cutting, trimming, fitting, taking apart, refitting etc on my IC pipes and I couldn't be happier. I wouldn't say my car is noticeably faster... but it's definitely not losing power like it was. (on the dyno i lost almost 15 hp between runs with a 5 min cool down which included an extra fan and a water sprayer... this is a totally stock engine)

i'm probably losing about 1 psi... because i've noticed the car doesn't surge nearly as hard as it did - but I lose/win against my friends' cars just the same as i did - so no real performance hit.

Just make sure you buy quality components and have the know-how to fab it yourself. There are affordable/quality parts everywhere on the net, you just have to find them.

getting the pipes right is a total bitch. make sure you get some tight radius U bends along with a generic piping kit.... you're gonna have to cut pipes mid-bend to get a really nice fit. even then you're gonna be hard-pressed to get it close enough that you can keep your fogs.

actually - if you want to keep your fogs... you're going to probably HAVE to weld the pipes up - so keep that in mind. i dont even want to think about how much more work it would take me to get all that right with couplers..... oi...

Be careful when installing. There was much more fuel in the fuel rail then I thought there would be.

to be honest with u it is worth it jus to spend the extra bucks on a kit.. i have the racetec front mount and its one of the cheapr ones and the fit was perfect.. i rther pay double the cash to not hafta worry bout it fitting like crap and havin to mesure cut weld remeasure blah blah all that... guess it all depends on how u are..some people like doin that custom fab stuff so then if so go for it is a lot cheaper and if u like it then its a score.. i personally hate it so easier the better for me :) an yea fmic is a great mod.. u can go run after run after run and still pull great

It does depend. Some people are capable of DIY projects, some arent. I try and help people in my area when they try and do DIY but dont quite know how.


For me to pay an extra 4-500 dollars, doesnt work out. Ive read even the high end kits have fitment issues. So id rather pay myself the 500 dollars for labour and install

For intake, I did a DIY Intake
For exhaust, bought it on sale
injectors bought on classifieds for cheap
Apr+1, installed injectors in parking lot to save the 80 bucks.
Snub installed myself.
Podi Did it myself
etc.

If you dont get reflashed after the injectors, the car will run rich and start stuttering and dying as if it had a blown coil. Its not pretty. Thats how it was when I intalled the injectors in the lot and they brought it in to be flashed.

I did the same but did not have the same result. the TT225s ran just fine to the shop without software... as long as you are easy you should not be sputtering

It wasnt me driving it in. I could hear him boosting too because of the loud diverter blow off. it was only like a 5 second drive. I guess he didnt know how to drive.

I followed your guide on the injector replacement. One of the metal clip things flew off and I couldnt find it anymore. The guy at the dealer said "The injector might fly off so go get a new clip.

But the rail is firmly holding the injectors down. how could it fly off??

you have a boost leak or failed DV... i went on my test drive, snatched second gear out of the parking lot and peaked 23lbs boost, i usually hold 19/20lbs... by third gear peak, my APR R1 DV failed and then i was in the same boat as you, i only peaked about 17/18lbs... i thought it was a leak but it ended up being my brand new defective R1

(I know It will seem slow after a while), anyways the guy at the shop said the "time to adapt" is complete BS. Apr and Neuspeed take 0 time.

Time to adapt isn't BS...

Your ECU can't just all the sudden take the changes in and properly adapt instantly. I think it should takes some miles and different driving for it to fully take effect.
